PartitionExpert problem

    In PartitionExpert when I am creating a new partition on a drive in winxp it sits at synchronizing with operating system then eventually gives me a can't synchronize error. Then when I try and use that drive to install windows Xp on it, it does not want to boot off the drive to continue the install.
    What's going on?
