  2. Hi starfish 001,

I couldn't say not having fiddled with such utilities .... yet, instead a page that might provide some ideas beyond your mentions ....

    xxxx://www.thefreecountry.com/utilities/partitioneditors.shtml

This utility below states it only works with HP product's, not the case from my reads. If you run a few searches you'll see described in several articles that it work's with most USB flash drive's, whether it allows what you seek in a partitioning tool
    I couldn't say ....

Trust someone will come along if no joy from these. ;)
Substitute http for the x's, I have issues!

    Thanks for the links

    - hp link is excellent but only provides formating

    - xxxx://www.thefreecountry.com/utilities/partitioneditors.shtml link has some good links to Ranish PM among other

I think I might try partitioning under linux or Fdsik from dos need to find a floppy drive ;)

Windows based utilitied don't seem to let you partition usb flash drives.

  4. Yep, looks like DOS FDISK from the Windows 98 CD is the one to use .... "ability to create a master boot record, create partitions, set active partitions, and format and transfer boot files to the active partition."
