Hi everybody, my first post here I am a newbie in MAC world, mid level pro on windows platform. I am looking for cross platform NTFS full access for my Windows 7 NTFS partition into MAC After spending days on net search I got following solutions Open Source solutions: 1) ntfs-3g-2010.10.2-macosx.dmg ( needs OSXFUSE.dmg) Issue: Works in 32bit kernel, may not be reliable on Mavericks, very slow performance 2) ntfs-3g_ntfsprogs-2014.2.15 [Tuxera Community version] Issue: needs to be compiled on target system. for this needs MacPorts/Homebrew and MacPorts/Homebrew needs Xcode and its command line tools. -> Do I need to go through all this stuff to just get this item installed and working in Mavericks? I mean Xcode is really huge 2.xx GB and what I will use MacPorts/Homebrew, I just need NTFS support at the moment. -> Should all that stuff specially xcode need to stay installed once the compilation and installation is over? 3) PAID Applications Tuxera NTFS Paragon NTFS I want to try Paragon NTFS 11, recently released and Paragon much vouched on internet than Tuxera. But, I have some hesitating questions before I get Paragon. a) If MAC OS or any components of it, library etc gets updated, or I played with system which affects Paragon installation, will this corrupt/malfunction Paragon? b) If Paragon crashes/misbehaves for any reason, can it corrupt my NTFS drives/partitions or would they stay safe and accessible in Windows? c) Is it possible to selectively enable/disable my NTFS drive/partitions under Paragon but keep enabled under mavericks? This is To reduce the risk, I want to keep all my NTFS drives disabled from Paragon till i need to full access. Of course Mavericks gives native Read access and I trust, it would not harm the contents on my NTFS drives. waiting for answers thanks
A. The Paragon software is a low level file system driver, so if you are altering the system outside of Mac's recommended specifications we cannot guarantee a working product. B. I have had issues where a drive already in a corrupted state, but we do not alter the data in any way our driver simply allows for read/write access, however I know there are instances of people reporting corrupted data. C. No, there is no way to perform those types of operations, the software is a simple NTFS file system drive, there are no options to enable and disable it on specific operations.
Thanks for the reply one more thing if i just uninstall paragon completely from my OS, any harms to my NTFS things? or just it would be in a state as like before paragon? thanks again
