    Hi
How do I make the recovery cd? There is a recovery media builder and also a seperate recovery cd 'unpack and burn wizard' around 47 MB which I have burnt to a cd.

Now mine is SE Special Edition and does not have the Recovery CD builder built in to the application.Instead this is provided as a separate application. I am puzzled?

    Hello,
i think you have missed the point.
double click on the unpack and burn wizard and follow the wizard.
this will prompt you to insert a blank cd and create a linux based recocvery cd.
where are you storing your backups?
    internal drive?
    external drive?
    or somewhere else?

if you stick the cd in the drive and reboot do you get any prompts to press any key to boot from cd?
if not im guessing your bios has been setup to boot from hard drive first which is why the cd appears to be unbootable.
you need to read your motherboard manual if you have one to find out how to put the hard drive second prority and have the cd/dvd drive as first prority.
do the steps above first then if the linux based cd doesnt see your external drive i will assit you.

the linux based recovery cd isnt very good at seeing external usb hard drives but the windows based cd is.

The check recovery disc says the linux based recovery cd is not bootable so i did not get around to changing the bios. First I want to make a bootable cd EDIT I have now made a bootable recovery disc with the recovery media builder

to get the windows based recovery cd you have the ask paragon support very nicely to make you a vistape recovery cd
if they do it comes in the form of a .iso file that you use a special option in your cd burning software to burn it to a disc so its bootable.

    both are linux based.
    both should be bootable.
the one created with the pack and burn wizard contains more functions.
