Paragon Hard Disk Manager 2011 Suite is released.

    What's new in 2011 version:

Migrate OS to SSD to move any Windows OS since XP from a regular hard disk to a fast SSD (Solid State Drive) even of a smaller capacity
The updated P2P Adjust OS Wizard to successfully start up a Win2K+ physical system on a different hardware platform (P2P) by allowing injection of all required drivers and the other actions crucial for this type of migration
Automatic partition alignment during partitioning/copy operations to optimize performance of the hard disk
Check FS Integrity and Data Loss Policies
Conversion of basic MBR to basic GPT disks
WinPE 3.0 based bootable environment (support of a wider range of hardware configurations with the option to add drivers for specific hardware on-the-fly)
The updated Boot Corrector for WinPE that now equals the functionality of the Linux/DOS counterpart
Better support for HFS+ that now includes not only resize capabilities, but create, format, and read only access through our program as well
    AFD (Advanced Format Drive) ready
Support of 2TB+ and non-512B sector size drives
    USB 3.0 ready

Does this mean that the WinPE disc can work with USB 3.0 cards and external discs without loading additional drivers?

Been waiting for HDM new version and disappointed that Paragon developers did no work on improving really pathetic differential restore speed, as Paragon admitted knowing of this drawback.
Done a 46GB partition restore yesterday, which proceed in less than 40m, compared to that restoring the same partition from differential image takes more than 10 times longer, which renders differential method almost useless or at least very painful.

    Anacunda,

I am new to Paragon software and have been a StorageCraft ShadowProtect user.

Regarding differential backups, are you saying that you have a base image with differential changes and that restoring that base + differentials takes 10 times longer than just a full image?

How old was the base image in that scenario?

    Hi greggmh123,

the restored partition is always about the same size so I can compare the times directly to each other. My proven experience is that restoral of ~46GB from 25GB base image taken not more than 40 minutes while restoral the same partition from 1GB differential image, made 2 days later took 9(!) hours. These restoral times are usual.
I'm sure that restoral speeds from diff image could be much higher as the differential backup phase doesnot take much longer than std backup, and decompression speed is always higher than compression.

That's good news. Is any chance it will have better differential backups restoral speeds, and fixed the issue of not decrypting EFS encrypted files on simple extraction?

It seems like it has been 2 weeks. Is there ever really going to be a HDM 2011 suite professional with a release date?

When you add the 2011 professional version to the shopping cart. There is a "Paragon Online WinPE Builder Service for Professional Editions" option. How many times can you use this service tool? Does it expire? I plan to change devices and drivers all the time.

The download is a ISO image that you burn a disc. It should be like other Paragon WinPE, you can load your own drivers but you'll have to do that every time you boot into it.

I bought HDM2011 suite and have used it for a few months now. It's been stable and useful. Having said that, I was amazed to find that the latest version of Paragon Virtualisation manager cannot work with the latest HDM2011 backups.

I took a backup of a PC that had to go in for repair. The PC was never returned but was replaced with a new Windows 7 PC. My backup was Vista. I wanted to create a virtual host using Oracles Virtualbox. I thought I could use the virtualization manager software to create a virtual PC from the backup.

You can imagine the surprise I got when the software informed me that the backup format was incompatible. No way back. I didn't want to lose the windows 7 but I did want to be able to gradually migrate to the win7 platform with the aid of virtualbox.

    I've sent a support ticket - awaiting a reply.

HDM 2011 uses a different image format. It can restore images created with previous versions of Paragon programs, but previous programs don´t work with the new format.

    Hello Anakunda,

actually long time for differential backup restore is understandable.
If you restore only basic image then you need just read from backup image and write to HDD.
But if you want to restore from diff image you need to read from Diff image, then read from basic image (thus comparing the data in Diff and Base images) and then write to HDD.
Differential imaging approach is time consuming process but saves space on backup destination.
The quickest way to save the changes is using Incremental backup but it is designed for File level backup only.

Hello Paragon_MA, unfortunatelly incremental level is not usable for my purposes (partition image).
I don't think that what I was writing about is malfunction of differential method, but rather specific version problem. I have compared differential image restoral times using different software and got diferrent times => ~9hrs (invoked from Windows/BlueScreen version) vs. ~1hr (restore invoked from Paragon WinPE Recvovery CD).
Thus I assume this is due to poor BlueScreen engine implementation.

    Seems perfectly sensible to me.

Tells the inexperienced user Paragon is working fine - otherwise they might think it is jammed and try and close it in Task Manager.

You would be surprised what people will do.

I don't know why you are finding it slow - it is not slower for me - in fact It seems faster.

I only do images - never file backups.

I wasn't suggesting that you were inexperienced - I have no idea where you got that from .

The messages may not be necessary for you - but they are for a lot of people.

Don't know why it is slower for you - not getting that result here.
I am not using the HDM Suite - but still as far as I know, the engine is the same throughout the 11 series.

Having said that - it may be they have updated the other products and not the Suite yet.

My bad. I see you were referring to the text as being helpful for a "new Paragon product user. I misinterpreted.

I have done a few adjustments and found the suite to be OK. No complaints.

You own Paragon Hard Disk Manager 2011 and only use it to back-up images? Wow! What do you use to make a backup or clone of your main HDD or SDD?
