It doesn't look like Panda has submitted to VB since 2002. I was wondering why?

I was impressed by the results of this PC Magazine article, which tested proactive detection of the recent viruses released for the MS05-039 Plug and Play vulnerability.

TruPrevent (part of Panda) caught all 6, as did BitDefender and Fortinet. But then I wondered why I don't see Panda in either VB or the AV Comparatives testing.

Panda will likely be in AV-Comparatives next year according to those running the site.

Panda has a good product that detects and cleans well but they are a little picky as to who test's their av, who knows why.

How is Panda in terms of footprint? I use NOD32 because of it's small impact on the system (being a gamer).

It's heavy & slow compared to NOD, however the scan speed is quite fast.

Edit: Patrician, I've been using Panda for 3 years so it's not a bash, it's experience ;)

Surprising that Panda is not on VB's testing lineup anymore must be some sort of dispute or something else the public doesnt know....:)

They may feel that any test being run at a known time and with all the vendors knowing the test files used is not actually worth participating in!

Nah, i do not think that is the reason. VB is always good publicity for a company that gets the award; but would be bad for one that fails in it..

But that good publicity does not proove that much. When you already know BEFORE (almost all) tested samples, what's the value of a test like this?

IF the VIRUSTOTAL and JOTTI's could be able to publish the real statistics of all av:s that they are using with a statistic of False Positives too, there we have the best REAL ItW test available. Of course with that condition where they are using the latest versions of all av:s and the best available settings too!

Btw, do you believe that those av-vendors are accepting that? :D

PS. I don't mean that VB tests are totally useless, as only 4 av:s were capable to detect all samples without any FP:s and misses in the WinXP VirusBulletin 06-2005 test.

    AntiVirusKit (GDATA)
    AntiVir
    Avira
    Norton (Symantec SAV)

    Correct me if I'm wrong!

    Best regards,
    Firefighter!

it has anyway a high reputation, maybe even because it is something that can be used for good publicity :p

I don't think I have ever read a post by Firefighter that wasn't informative, funny or on target. (or all of the above). Thanks for the info. :D

Not exactly, look at the VB On-Access scan table 06-2005 here.

    So which av exactly?

    Or, did you simply mean?

    GDATA AntiVirusKit 15.0.5 = AVK = Kaspersky + BitDefender

    Best regards,
    Firefighter!

Is it simply because Panda has been tested already in here? West Coast Labs has actually tested av:s against more recent ItW list than VirusBulletin. Check out the checked ItW list in West Coast Labs and verify that to the number of tested ItW samples in VB (in VB they have actually tested av:s against an ItW list that never exists).

    Best regards,
    Firefighter!

    I mean GDATA Antiviruskit 15.0.5 = AVK = KAV + BD.
