As far as I can remember program upgrades will only be available in the paid version :(

I'm kinda nervous about what they are going to do for the Pro version. As long as they allow the free version to update without having to uninstall, have self protection, and add a behavior shield for the free version I will be fine. Oh and also I hope they don't add ad's to the free version :doubt:

keep in mind, the free version is good as it is. The paid may be the first cloud AV that really offers some nice features.

either way, I am not worried. Panda is proving to do what is right for its customer base.

Did you forget about the edit button, or are you trying to increase post count? ;)

, I'd also be interested in reading about the differences between Pro vs. Paid and the "big" improvements in PCAV 1.1. We can only hope behavior detection is added to the free. :D

There going to be a Panda Cloud or Panda AV/IS for 64 bit?

  8. pbust

There already is. Both CloudAV and Panda AV/IS are Vista/W7 64bit compatible.

Is the Anti-Rootkit functionality in Cloud Antivirus as good as in Panda Internet Security now? :doubt:

Yes, as of version 1.0 it's very similar.

Thank you, what do you think about the above-mentioned self-made test?

    Score: Malware 15, Panda 0: 0%

Was it a faulty test? :doubt:

I know I am not Pbust but I will answer anyway. Next test of Panda cloud I'd love to see a log report of Panda cloud just to make sure 100% it did not block anything. I have a feeling Panda did detect some because if you watch some youtube reviews of Panda, Panda blocks the malware but the only alert that is shown says Program is in use by another Process. It think it's a timing issue with the cloud service.

I don't know if the test was faulty or not when it comes to the way it was tested. Same goes for other similar tests uploaded to youtube.

What I do know is that it needs to be put into perspective:

    • There's about 50.000 unique new malware variants released *every day*. Testing against 15 of them equals 0.03% of the new "daily malware", which is not really statistically significant.

    • MDL and other similar sources include links to malware but also links to malware config files, broken malware, non-malware, etc. which should not be detected.

    • There's no information about prevalence of the testbed. Is this really malware that is infecting users or simply links that someone has "found"? I'd love to have those links to correlate them against our prevalence data.

    • Last but not least, I know for a fact some AV vendors are adding sigs to stuff being published from MDL and similar public malware repositories automatically to their products to "test well" in these types of home-grown comparatives, sometimes without even checking if it is really malware. I guess we will have to do the same thing :(

All in all, I don't think the test was faulty, it is simply irrelevant.

I would have to say that is a pretty fair and honest answer. Keeping everything in its right perspective is the key. Hmm, did I say that.;)

No Panda should not. Keeping a higher standard at any cost is more important then stooping to "whatever it takes" thinkology.

Panda should play dirty like the others :D

Nah, the real tests like AV-C are coming and will shed, true, light.:thumb:

I hope so, I'm spanish so I would like to see a spanish AV win at AVComparatives.
Anyway still I miss some stuffs like the silent hips of karsperky or something like (sandoboxie+Buster Sandbox Analyzer) I would actually like to see this in any other security software, IMO this kind of reports are better than any VirusTotal result.

Winning isnt the key, I am sure Panda, like all the new vendors need a solid starting point to go with. I agree, something high will be nice, but you have to get your feet wet first.

    Kaspersky=silento_O:doubt:

Silent compared to the others (OA, Comodo...) and they still get a good score at matousec.

Pbust can you give us Panda's goal on when Panda Cloud 1.1 should be out? (Beta or Final)

I'd like to say something about irrelevance.

I bought a new car once many years ago. Soon after purchase (but slightly out of warranty) the car suffered major engine failure. I sat at the car dealership owner's desk, and I remember him saying to me,

"You must understand, this happens to fewer than 1% of our new car customers".

Not particularly caring for that attitude, I told Mr. Dealer that what he must understand is that it happened 100% of the time to me.

My point? The test has more merit than you are giving it, and for someone, perhaps some group... the group who gets infected... they would take exception to your "simply irrelevant" remark, just as I took exception to the car dealer's remark.
