BAD RESULTS

 

Malwarebytes missed that TDL/TDSS rootkit on that follow up scan. Hitman Pro found it, not Malwarebytes. So, even if Malwarebytes's real-time protection had been active, that root kit would have gotten through. No anti-malware protection is perfect. Not even the much respected Malwarebytes.

 

PCAV missed not only this Rootkit but also some simple Trojans ...

 

Not neccesarily, because of their techniques active rootkits are harder to detect and remove. For example, not many products can detect and remove the latest TDL3 which is active, but a lot can block it before it executes.

 

Panda detected a fake av trying to install on a family machine last night...but missed TDL3 rootkit and the rootkit got installed. No AV product it 100% so I have been working with my parents to create a layered setup.
