    The original post for this is April 2011. Any ideas when v2 might actually be released or is this just a perpetual beta?

    Well it does infact update by updating a cache of signatures of the latest threats periodically for when your offline. The rest of the time things are analyzed more or less on the fly as your Panda installation is connected to the mother ships servers. It's an approach that does take some getting used to for those of us used to seeing regular update notifications.

    The cloud server is the one that "gets the updates" so the PCAV client checks a suspicious file against the cloud

    Panda also keeps a small collection of the latest detections on board in the event of a loss of
    connection due to internet interruption on either end so it keeps purring along...:cool:

    I agree especially since this will be adding in a firewall which I am really curious to see in action.

    Was testing 1.9 yesterday for the first time, and did notice it only uses 1 core?
    Could this be right? After all its 2012 now....

    the better! what, in 2015 an AV should use 4 cores of a CPU and 2 terrabytes of ram?the ones who can`t afford to buy a multiple core CPU should be banned from the internet? that`s what the cloud means: speed!files will be processed over the internet
    @xandros:
    too long... :(

    last time i tried it i uninstalled it straight away as it would automatically remove all detections without any warning, does it still do that?

    This was also my main concern and even if generally I like the product, until this is change I am not going to use it.

    Maybe I was unclear: If you have more then 1 core it would be optimal to use them if you want to right?
    Scanning times, unpacking of packed files etc.

    With all the settings we see in Antimalware software now days, why not be able to choose how many cores you want to use while scanning for example.

    You can always recover the neutralized files from the quarantine. But we are considering adding this as an advanced config later on.
