well, I still have a issue with their support person being here and not answering the question. I will know it is true when he says so.

Add Eset 4.2 to my mix of Panda or Avast in 2 days. Eset offers great support.:thumb:

A very hyped AV, yet to be compared to other AVs in detection/prevention rates. :)

This update to 1.1 seem very interesting though I do have some Questions.

Is PCA designed like Prevx that it can be (if the user wants to) be used along with an traditional AV, or is it supposed to be used alone?

    Thanks

Panda is a full blown AV versus Prevx which is a behavior blocker. I don't think using it with another AV would be recommended...:)

He is probably going through all the emails of the beta feedback or looking into some new malware. When he has time he will respond :D

My suggestions for Dev would be to update the GUI in 2.0...
Which is looking like toy and not very professional. ( Perception is very important )

Other then that. It looks like a great update.

Avast, Norton 2011, and Panda 1.1... all of a sudden we have no shortage of VERY good AV to choose from.

I like the simple GUI :) The advanced settings are great, I hope the free Panda Cloud AV will include the behaviour blocker too. Maybe it's as effective as TruePrevent in Panda Pro? :D

Are the self protection features fully implemented? :doubt:

that what the behaviour analsis is i think is the BB, also it does include self protection.

A free AV with behavioral analysis - that would be amazing :D As far as I can remember program upgrades should also be implemented now? :doubt:

i believe they are added in for program updating, its just not in the change log.

Pbust will have to let us know because i remember him saying it would be.

right PCA 1.1 is really nice for being free.

Sorry for the late replies guys.

The BB is composed of two main technologies: behavioural blocking and behavioural analysis. BB works under 64bit systems as well. In the release version we will show these 2 separate in the advanced configuration.

Regarding the vaccine, it has 2 components:
    * Disable autorun on the PC (just a simple reg entry). This improves protection for offline mode.
    * Vaccinate individual USB memory sticks / drives. This creates an un-readable, un-modifyable, un-deleteable autorun.inf on USB drives so that they will not be used as infection carriers.
We are working on clarifying this a bit in the advanced config for the release version.

The 1.1 release version will have automatic upgrades. Remember this is only a beta of the 1.1 version, not the final release.

Like Avast this Panda Cloud free version is really looking good.

I allways wonder what the business model is behind it. When a company delivers such a good freeware version. For HIPS programs (like OA) I can understand that a freeware version triggers paranoids to go all the way. The typical average PC user is not that paranoid.

Still, complements to Panda, Beta looks good.

Would it be possible (like Avast did) to throw in Panda Cloud free in the Av-comparatives review?

    Regards Kees

It is analysis during run-time, rather than static analysis such as on-demand. There's more info in these posts:
    http://research.pandasecurity.com/how-truprevent-works-i/
    http://research.pandasecurity.com/how-truprevent-works-ii/
    http://research.pandasecurity.com/how-to-prevent-zero-day-exploits/

Interesting suggestion. Yes we need to do something about this. Currently the online check is performed every 10 or 15 mins so as to keep it light and unintrusive.

Green if offline? I would suggest red :)

pbust, what will be the difference between Panda Cloud AV Free and Pro? I hope the free version will include the behavioral analysis as well :doubt:
