As PCAV is going 2.0 I went to a costumer with a small office were I installed the Pro version late last summer.
I wanted to see if his computers were updated with the new version.
Non of them did auto update yet, but what was more alarming was that one of the installations were version 1.5.1o_O
    How is this possible?
I have been seeing this before with the free version but did never bother to ask.

If the auto update feature does not work as it should, could Panda not just incorporate a manual update button somewhere inside the settings menu.
Just to avoid the inconvenience of less experienced users downloading and installing over an older version by hand.

    /E

i don't feel any slowdowns with 2.0, and it has a lower RAM usage. on the other hand, the scan is as slow as with 1.5.2, no difference there. but that's not important to me, since i don't do any scans except from the one after the installation.
actually, i don't see any reason why regular scans are demanded from the AV companies. if it doesn't catch a malware in real time, but catches something after a manual full scan, then that AV has a problem.

Does it block the exploits themselves, or is it a blacklist for IP or domains known to use exploits?

The review seemed pretty fair and unbiased to me. And I'm glad they were able to replicate some slow down issues that other users have reported. Hopefully Panda will act on improving that now.

For me Panda 2.0 is not detecting the test file given here. But when I see the settings in panda cloud it says the system is correctly connected with internet. Is panda cloud working properly or not?:doubt:

Is this link www.cloudantivirus.com/testurlfilter/ the test page for version 3.0 (Most current) of Panda URL Filter, or is it something else?

I'm testing out the URL Filter, but that page doesn't seem to work.

The test page works for me. Does this occur on all your browsers? Do you get the "unblocked" page when you try? It could be something in your setup that may be conflicting with the redirect.

Check your list of installed programs to make sure the URL Filter is installed and the process (*Panda_URL_Filtering.exe) is running.

Yeah, it happens in both browsers.

I'll dig a little deeper to see why it's not working, I may have to add an exclusion under Comodo.

I just noticed that you have sandboxie. Were you running your browser in sandbox? If so, that may be the source of this issue. Add an exclusion and try again.

Well I have to say that after installing the new Pro version and completing an optimized scan, everything is as was.

No lags, no slow down and the scan even completed in what I would class as the normal time frame.

The only thing I have done is disable the firewall element as I use OA's instead.
Other than this all default settings.
Something is obviously amiss judging by the posts here but have to say I am unaffected.

it's working on my side. just not during download, and not when opening the directory where the file is, only when i touch the file.
i can accept it's not detected during download, but not detected when opening the directory? no harm done though.

The last time I had tried Panda Cloud last year the url filter would not work in a browser sandboxed by sandboxie. I think you could check if you were visiting the test site with a browser sandboxed by sandboxie.

    So what's the consensus?

Slower scans, but still light, or is it slowing down systems? (Although I'm sure it will be fixed). I'm surprised there would be any problems given how long the beta was :p

Also, does the URL filter work for Chrome yet?

And I think 2 stars is pretty harsh. It said it's best on a clean system and at preventing threats, but I think most AVs are like that. How many people only install an AV when they get an infection?

Apparently according to PC mag the firewall doesn't stealth all ports.

Any reason why URL filtering is disabled by default after auto updating from 1.52? I enabled it manually. Also I was able to click the button for Behavioral Analysis in advanced settings even though the help file says it is avaliable in Pro Edition only.

@Brandonn2010 Slower scans? No, exactly the opposite and as mentioned multiple times, the cache has to be built up. There are mixed feedback regarding slowness and those feel zero, but yes no doubt about it that the devs are looking into this. Could be a bug somewhere, after all they threw in a new UI. The URL Filtering works in all popular browsers. I'm guessing that the reviewer did not know of Panda Cloud's special Nemesis tool.

@The Hammer The URL Monitoring option in the Panda process manager window is not to be confused with the URL Filtering program that is installed with the toolbar. Behavioral Anaylsis was made available in the free version.

I'm not understanding what the difference is then.
