This is "The Cameraman", a picture taken in a small town in Africa, the children were not sure they liked having their picture taken, according to the photographer. :D They ended up having fun with it, though.

I cropped a big picture, sharpened it, then put relief on it too.
Had to re-colorized it then - put a soft blur on it, with a simple border.

It was hard to see their faces before, relief brought them out a little, but not really liking the end result.

    Any suggestions?

I used a fractal, called Fairy's Hollow, as the background for this, "Little Girl Dreams".

The Navajo child is a tube that I ended up erasing the background, then pasting, my picture tube factory is down, I guess? :p

After trying different things, I decided to use the quad mirror in PhotoFiltre.

I added relief to bring up the features, then blurred it.

    That's all!

    Marja:cool:

I finally got rid of some of the tubes in the prog that I never use, but now I can't seem to get any new ones in? Help!!

This is a little better! Resized and not so see through :)
Now I'm off to practice zig zagging the freehand tool. Wish me luck! Is there a way to just draw the lines with the freehand tool? Instead of having to click click click, lol ?

LOL! BBoss, you don't need to paint?!? There is a way to make that a little clearer, it's was in the thread back aways.......at first I thought you were saying the bird wasn IN your computer screen! LOL! (Must have been thinking of BJ's hair 'friends'.)

I am gonna snag that pic and see if I can figure something out....don't hold your breath tho! ;)

Sonya!! That looks soo good! Like a professional job! You should be real proud of yourself!! I bet your daughter loves it, right?

    Marja:cool:

OH! about the freehand tool, that's the only way I know how to do it too?!?! I never read any different way, maybe someone can tell us.

Also, Uguel, I don't 'get' why you cut zig-zags in that pony? What does it do? Thanks!

Thank you so much Marja :) Yes, my daughter was like" dude, I love that, it is sooo cool" lololol :D I hate when she does that "dude" thing, hahaha She likes this city one too :)

Ok everyone, I think this can count as a baby theme, lol because she is my baby :) Anyway, I am making these for my mom. She has been griping at me all week about making some pics to frame & put on the wall for family that's comming in a week to visit. I have to work on my youngest daughter next.
This is pretty much just copy n paste, and use of the deform tool. And the opacity? <--is that what it's called? opacity?

Ok, last one of Erica. I just learned to hold the CTRL key and drag the corners, while in deform tool, and it does 3D sort of effect. But you knew that already. :D

No, we can use other tools instead of the freehand tool. You can use either the ellipse or circle tool with the feather set between 20 to 28 approx. depending on how close the subject is to the border. Of course, the other tools can be used too, like the rectangle, square... pentagon but usually the circle or the ellipse tools are the ones that I like best because the rendering is more natural.

Why did I use the zig zag? because the borders look less sharp. I could have
drawn an oval with the selection tool and taken ellipse as the selection type and set the feather to 20. It is just that the borders look just a little bit more defined but not very much. Look at the picture to compare the different selection tools I took when I cut the flower. ;)

lol, right, they should be on their own soon. ;)
Our friend Blair... I used Auto FX Software filter, and chose "dreamy"
from the predefinitions menu. The frame was made with Adrenaline,
the colour preset was woodland. Adrenaline and Auto Fx Software
    are both free filters! ;)

...I tried adding a 3D effect to a tube tonight
first, I open a tube and pasted it in a transparent picture...

...then I pasted the tube on a black image (it can be any colour)
black was my choice and once it was pasted, I applied these settings...
    See screenshot. ;)

    ...and then I got this....
If you want less shadow than that, you must reduce the depth.
You will have less shadow but also less 3D effect.

the tube on the top of the picture one has no effect in it
and the second has the effect applied in it. ;)
