Making matters worse, HandsOff is going to come up with some expensive plugin that does it with one mouse click...

This somewhat bad result was using blur brightness and contrast only. It took up more room so I had to increas the compression. Did you ever notice that blur will make a file larger? it does!

NO! I only noticed it makes a messy background, that you have to clean up! Good to know these things, Hands, thanks! :D

If i didn't have an expensive plugin that would do it in on click, I'd probably see if i could make tha magic wand select the letter, or the letter margin, but not the fuzz. If you can, then inverse select the letters so you wont paint over them, and use the same color paint as the background. Then make the brush very broad to paint the fuzz over quickly. I did not try that.

Okay, I tried it. It doesn't work great, because the letter borders are so thin you still have to be careful, but it does work. If you just want to make it better than it was, but not perfect it works. The big advantage is that you do not blur anything

Re: Paint Shop Pro & PhotoFiltre Talk

Marja, If it helps, there are other methods that can help. Occasionally I scan a document, only to find littles specks and things all over. If you have a good OCR they don't seem to matter. Sometimes they are not OCRable so you save it as a JPEG. Strangely enough, other than 'you know what', an unlikely cure that works well sometimes is the "Posterize" effect. I do not use the built in one (can't even find it). Posterizing is limiting the 'color depth' or the number of shades of a color. The letters and smudges are the same color, but not the same shade so posterize makes them dissapper. In your example there are too many colors to make it effective, but if there are only a few colors like in print, then it works great...sometimes. The result is never good with photographs...unless you are making a poster!

In general when you cut and paste or letter, there will be options that deal with anti-aliasing, or feathering. Sometimes you have to look for them. That fuzz seemed worse than that though. Mine is not loaded now, but in photofiltre I remember that there were options about viewing the transparent layer, and you could delete the layer, or you could "blend" it. Maybe something like that?

P.S. - Is Alien ware the same as Alien Skin Software?

Sorry Marja but I've never used them in Photofiltre.
I used to play with the colour settings or filters only
    when I open that program.

In PSP, when I find that a picture is too blury after resizing,
    I go to the menu> Effects> Effect Browser> Sharpness
then I try the sharpness settings until I am pleased with the result.
ANW, I think that Hands Off already did great! :)

that looks both pretty and mysterious.
I saw some Middle Age pictures that had tiles similar to yours! ;)

...this is from one of my favourite cowboy movies, Hombre.
It is about a white man raised by an Apache tribe that is forced to confront the society he despises when he sold the boarding house he inherited. Most of the scenes take place in the Arizona desert.

these are the modifications I made... ;)

I opened the picture in PSP and duplicated it,
I played with the channel colour option and
    applied a Gaussien blur of 9.00 in the duplicated pic;
I opened the layer option and applied "hard light"
and I adjusted the settings until I obtained this. :)

Shane. It's from a classic western tale I read recently.
I discovered that they made a movie of the story in the fifties.
The story was written by Jack Schaeffer. ;)

    for the fun of it.....
I just added a li'l ani with a horseshoe I already had as a tube.
The border was made with a filter called "Random Border". :)

This is right at the beginning of Renee's blast in to the movies! I think she is a superb actress, she looks like someone I know in this pic?!?

She just came "Out Of A Whirlwind" of talent, or so it seems.

I blended two pics, (which I never managed to do well with PSP, no prob with PhotoFiltre, go figure! [IMG] ), there was some painting involved, also pretty new to me, lots of cutting, cropping, cussing (oops!) and general mayhem this AM!
And that was just at the cat! LOL!

A sandstone frame, that's pretty much it, no plugins or filters, this time!

Another one of the new Mrs. Chesney! When did they meet?!?
    That's very cool!

This one is from Chicago, loved that movie!

I took Renee and put in her in a star nebula, with the men's chorus line giving her a boost to those stars! :D

Blended the pics, played around forever without any plugins takes alot longer!

A drop shadow with added noise to simulate glitter and a simple border!

That's all for this, "Rising Star"!

How many times have I seen that movie during my youth? It's Paul Newman, if I remember correctly. o_O
    Nice picture Uguel. :)
Did you make the arrow yourself or is it a tube?
That's scary. Don't like snakes at all. Wonderful filter you applied.
btw I bought Axialis Iconworkshop. Couldn't resist the offer of Lifetime upgrades. :D
The Sixth Element, wonderful movie and lots of humor in it too.
Love to watch movies with Bruce Willis. Great work Brad. :D
PhotoFiltre doesn't have any animation at all Sonya.
I don't know anything about Photo Impact though, never heard of it.
Best have a look at Snapfiles for more apps for animation. There are quite a few to be found there.
Tom Cruise in the Last Samurai.
Watched that movie more then once. Fascinating story too and great picture once again.
Nice work Marja on both pictures. You're really getting the hang of it.
Wonderful to see what you accomplished in such a short time and there's more to come. ;)

Here's my next picture, although I didn't use PSP, nor PhotoFiltre.
I experimented a bit with GimpShop, still in beta, but it does have some nice filters.
It's a clone of Gimp, but a lot changed to the code and has about the same layout as PhotoShop.
Had to get used to working with it, although I found pretty quick how to do things. :p

Can you tell me if the snapfiles are like plugins are? I don't quiet understand what applications for animation is. Thank you sooooooooooo much! :D :D
But I'm going to look at the site now!
EDIT: Ok I just looked at the site, and I can't find what you are talking about there! I see all kinds of stuff, but don't know which one you mean :D :D :D
I don't know what I would do without you all!

Snapfiles is a site like Download.com to look for all sorts of apps (= applications).
Just enter your search text 'animation' and you'll get an enormous list of apps.
    You're welcome Sonya. ;)
    Don't get lost there. :D

Edit: Have a look too at Handyarchive. :D :D :D

Thanx Eldar, I got a cool Gif animator from the handy archive just then. It is free (not a trial ) and has all kinds of cool effects. It is called Movies 12. I think it's on page 3. I am about to go try some stuff with it now.
I am going to have to make some stuff here pretty soon :D It's been a while since I made anything to show yall! :D :D :D
