This is likely to give someone nightmares, this is what happens when you get out of control and try every effect you can think of............just for fun!

Stole some of Buck's glowing edges, added more noise than I should have , there are three borders. The biggest border has been warped with the twirly distortion, the moon was made by the ellipitical tool, all edges are colored with colored pencil effect, enhanced, neoned a couple of times, the stars are tubes, the swirls are tubes, - The cat is Dagalog's Kahlua, so I hope he doesn't mind his cat, "Ridin The Moon".

Think 70's and it doesn't look that out of place. I definitely have to go find my shades, now. :D

Thanks Uguel! When I was looking at your original I noticed you cleverly had the cats eyes each on one or the other of the two major astral bodies. I could just see them looking out the window...

Okay, I know this technically is not an icon forum, but allow me to point out that most of the work is in the image editing phase, which is where we all excel beyond all reason!

I thought I would show you my latest. The Windows XP System icon. This normally looks like a globe with a flag superimposed on it. The color coordination doesn't quite work, but i changed all that, and, if I do say so, I'd not be surprised if Bill Gates contacted me for permision to use it in some future windows version. Of the two versions, I settled on the uni-flag version because it is more recognizable at the dreaded 16x16 resolution!

    Thanks Marja. ;)

Here's some explanation how I did it, of course I forgot some too.
Space was created by the Flaming Pear Glitterato plugin
The star is a tube (Twinkstar)
The planet is also a tube where I applied a red chlorine vapor using the Eye Candy > Fire filter (not free)
The stargate was a creation of my own using water filter and glass filter. Can't remember which one I used exactly.
The starship was taken from an existing picture where I erased the background and applied an Eye Candy motion trail filter.

As for the frame itself I first applied a gaussian blur and went to Effects > Effects Browser > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel (See picture below)
Pity, otherwise I could have made it into a tube. :doubt:
It's a wonderful picture Marja. Well done.
It's easy to overdo the effects, but this picture is just as it should be. ;)

Very er graphic, Hands! How did you do that? One of your icons made you mad, right? :)

Eldar, I have looked for those Bast Cats everywhere, I still have one place to look, it seems they were with the lot of pics that got lost! They would have made great tubes! Wish I could remember where I got them? It's been a year though, at least.

Thanks for your compliment on the pictures! Wasn't too sure about the last one, I was very tired by then, maybe should have waited! LOL!

Thanks also, for the explanation on frame, that is what I had tried to do a few times before, guessing my settings weren't enough to make the window visible!

    Have a great day, everyone!

Re: Paint Shop Pro & PhotoFiltre Talk

To the question: Will Adobe Photoshop filters work with
    Paint Shop Pro?

...well, I've just tried and it worked... but just in case, I would recommend that you put just one new filter in Adobe Photoshop plug-ins and then you open Paint Shop Pro and check if it would work. Here's how you can do it:

First, just install a new filter that you do not already have in Paint Shop Pro....Open your c: drive and Browse until you see Adobe Photoshop then PhotoshopCS/Plug-ins/ create a new folder in it, you might call it "my filters" and then place the new filter there, in my case I put "Lunar Cell" in it. Then open Paint Shop Pro and go to File>Preferences>Files Locations, Click on the "Add" button,a new window showing your C: drive will open, browse in it until you get into your Adobe Photoshop Plug-ins filters, select "my filters" and then click "ok".

Now, in Paint Shop open a new image, let's say a .Jpg.
Go to the menu and see if it worked or if the new filter is installed. So you go to the top Menu: Effects>Plugins> and browse till you see your new filter name.

I'd have liked to give you a screenshot of my Photoshop menu plugins but it is all in French so it won't help much.

    Hope it will work! ;)

Thank you for all the information here! :)
I have a question about the difference between a plugin, and filter?
I am still working on the sparklie name. I got as far as the "dropper", but don't know how to get it inside the text, LOL Also, I opened the "new transparent image " in Animation Shop. Was that rite?
    Thanks

    Hi Sonia!

there is almost no difference between a plugin and a filter.
they both are programmed to modify pictures.
It is just that some plugins can work like standalone
programs which means that you can go directly into it.

To get inside the text, you have to select it with the Magic Wand before.
Mode RVB ..."Click on your magic wand ( tolerance and feather 0 ), Click on the white parts of your name holding the shift key down at the same time. It should now look like this with out the ants."

See more details here in the glitter tutorial:

    select text

For some reason when I click on the "A" text tool, all that comes up is a blank window for me to type text into. There is no font choice, etc: o_O o_O
Here is a picture of the text box opened.

To do the glittering text you have to do it in Paint Shop Pro first. :)

and once you are finished working in all your frames (in general, there are 3 frames in a glitter) you can save them on your desktop one by one one and then you open them in Jasc Animation Shop.

    Another way of exporting them:

you select frame 1, right click copy and you paste it in Jasc Animation.
You do the same for frame 2 and frame 3. For you first glittering text, start with an easy turorial like "Brenda's Barn Glittering Text". It is the easiest to start with.

    Brenda's tutorial

How do we get them side by side to play?

Once you have your 3 frames opened in Jasc Animation Shop....
Just select "frame 2" then you right click "copy", then you click and select frame one and you right click again and choose "copy after selected or active frame or picture" then you select frame 3, right click copy, then you select frame 2, you right click again and you choose "copy after active or selected frame or picture". If everything worked well, you will get 3 frames side by side.

To have your animation play, you must click on the pink button at the top right of the menu in Jasc Animation Shop.

Then you can save it as a .gif

Obviously you do not have the text tool options showing.
Have you tried this: Go to the Menu> View> Palettes> and then click on Tool Options (F4)

I don't understand where the "menu" is? I checked the top buttons where "file" is, and didn't see anything. This is the only thing I saw with "Palettes".

EDIT I found it !!!! I hit f4 like you said, LOL
