Just dropping by- so I can explain what I did later?

    Marja:cool:

OK! This one was basically borders, I used the magic wand for the borders, then played around with different distortions until I finally used the wave distort, the dilated the edges, enhanced them and used add noise on the cats themselves, also using a filter to make sure the cat's eyes stayed as brilliant as they were in the original. (Thanks! Snowbound, they are pretty trippy lookin cats!:) )
I also made an made an inner bevel, Uguel or someone, if you aren't sure what you did exactly, like settings , is there a way to take the pic apart, and "read" what you did? Seems like there should be?!?
I tried using lights, but it bleached out the cats too much. That's all!:)

I think I will have to call this one, "Black Spear's Comeupence" !! LOL!

Basically a border distortion and that's it, the cat was too busy to mess with! :D!

This one, was a suprise to me! LOL! It came out waaay better than I was trying for.
It has two borders, (I have been making tiny borders on alot of pix, because they always bleed into the pix, this stops that from happening, just one or two pixels in a color that is predominant in the background so it kind of blends in.
I used Kalaidescope (SP?) for the second border, oh I had also used a dropshadow trying to make it look like a window - probably could have been more definite - but still learning.
The K'scope did most of the work, then I sharpened the results and left it alone! LOL! I am slowly learning to stop and look awhile, not just keep (cough) improving! :D
Still not sure of the spelling of Comeupence??

Just too cute to keep I guess! :)

I did alot to this one, just having fun and trying different things, so I will have to just say what I see, until better comes along!

(Thanks! GF for the pic of the cute kitties!)

There are three borders, I haven't found many frames I like that don't overwhelm the pictures, and borders are more fun, anyway! LOL! All those effects, love using them!

Each border has a different different distortion effect on it, sometimes two!
The inside has a drop shadow effect, then I made the second one made a cutout, then made it into a bevel, used a wave and K'scope effect, lighting on the kittens, and VPfilter Halo on the kittens too. Sorry, was having too much fun to remember all that I did! :D

Thanks guys! I am glad you like them!

Eldar, expert? I am finding out just how little I know, but, it is fun learning, most to the time! I agree with BBoss, after the first 20 times of doing them all over, the fun begins to pale, these were relatively painless, tho! :)

Uguel asked me to pick the subject for the next two weeks, (she obviously knows I have enough cat pictures to continue for months!)

So, since Eldar gave me cats, I will give him fantasy and Buck space, so I chose, "Space Opera". That will give alot of leeway on what you can do!

Excited to see what will come with that! Read any good space operas lately, Eldar? (I know there are just soo many! Finder's stories, the Honor Harrington stories, the Heinlein stories,.............on and on!)

For those who aren't sure what I mean, it is simply showing what you think is"going on IN space'', telling a little story of it, in your picture.

Well expert was a figure of speech, meaning you're really progressing rapidly. :)
You can always return in your steps, as long as you don't merge and save the image.
Ok, give me a minute to get started. Nice subject, lots of ideas. Well chosen Marja. :D
Haven't read a book in ages, kids/family/work take too much time away. Vacation is coming, so I'll be able to read some books. Not SF, but my collection of Buffy books. :D

p.s.: Haven't received the B&W cats picture yet. :doubt: ;)

Oh my goodness LOL I do have Animation Shop on my computer, version 3.04 :D I think it came with the Paint Shop Pro 8. But to be honest, I don't have a clue where it came from, LOL. I was trying to get the plugins to work installing them in the rite folder for Ulead, (still no luck), and I just run across Animation Shop. LOL
That just goes to show, I don't have a clue what's on my computer. :D
I also installed Adobe Photo Shop the full version the other day. So I'm good to go here. :D I just need to figure out these plugins. :'(

Re: Paint Shop Pro & PhotoFiltre Talk

Animation Shop came together with your purchase of PSP8 as a bonus. I don't think the plugins will work with Ulead Gif Animator, but they will work in PSP and PhotoShop & others. :)
Normally when you download plugins they come in a zip format or an install file. If zip, unzip them to your plugin folder, if you need to install, specify the plugin folder. Close PSP or PHS before unzipping or installing.
After restarting the app you'll see your plugins in PSP under Effects > Plugins. :)

PSP and PHS can share the same plugin folder.
In PSP go to File > Preferences > File Locations.
If no folder is specified for the plugins you can add it.
    See screenshot.

I hope this helps Sonya. ;)

Thank you Eldar. I finally got one to work !!!
It was the Harry o_O one, I don't know the whole name. I got it to work in my Paint Shop. It is only a demo. Are there any freeware ones that you might tell me about? Thanks :D

My pleasure Sonya. Good to hear you got it done. :)
You mean the Harry Filters from the Pluginsite. It's a free one, but you've to register in order to download it. Other links to free plugins have been posted in this thread, so best not repeat them over and over again.
Start at the beginning and you'll find several links to tutorials, frames, ...
Good luck on the hunt. ;)

I'm glad you like it, Marja. Still, I hope U. don't mind (it was her creative vision that I borrowed)!

My icon project is going along. I'm slowing beginning to understand the process. I started it not only because a lot of icons are ugly, but also its much easier to click certain items if they are color coded. I color coded the hard drive partitions that I use the most. the ones with the cable attached are external drives. Later I will redo the externals to a color code. I haven't quite figured out how to do CD/DVD drives. Because they are not "write enabled" they cannot be changed the same way i did the HDD's. I know there is a way...something to do with autoplay (a feature I don't much like). Anyway, extra points if you noticed the Star Trek emblem next to my name on the start button!

    Hi HandsOff,
Lovely picture and it looks just like diamonds with cats inside.
BTW I already knew about the glitterato plugin (see picture). It's a great plugin from Flaming Pear. :)

Hey Marja, here's my first try. ;)

Re: Paint Shop Pro & PhotoFiltre Talk

Hey, I am glad that you got it. It is a nice program.
You can't have the plugins or filters work in Jasc Animation Shop
but you can in Paint Shop Pro.

First, here's a couple of good links to download filters.

    Xero filters...they are freeware....

    Xero Filters

More freeware ones... Specially created for Photoshop
but they work with Paint Shop Pro too.

    Photoshop Filters

Interesting demos from Flamingpear but they work for about 15 days....

    Flaming Pear

A simple way to install your filters in Paint Shop Pro....

First thing, you create a folder called "Plugins" in Paint Shop Pro...
unless you already have one) so you go to.....

    C:\program files\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop (8 or 9)...

look if you have already a folder named "Plugins", if not create it there!
After you are finished downloading the filters, you can unzip them
on your desktop. Then you throw away all the zipped files, you can
now select( Ctrl+a) all the unzipped files and move them in your
"Plugins" folder in Paint Shop Pro.

    See screenshot down below...

If Paint Shop Pro was already opened, close it and restart it in order
to see the new installed filters or plugins that you've just installed.

Once you opened Paint Shop Pro, open a new pic or any image that you already have for this will make the menu active, then go to Effects in the main menu. Look carefully at the dropdown menu, if everything worked fine, you will see your new filters when pointing the mouse on "Plugins".

...You might have a look at Bigbuck's screenshot in post #50 too!

    Hope this help.

Like your StarGate picture, Eldar! What a great show! Eldar, forgot to ask you how you got your frame to look like a window and metal?? Also, think I lost the cats, can't find them! Sorry!

Buck, that's good, waiting for your muse to arrive.

I call this Wisdom, it's a small inner bevel, a pic of space, with a tube of the woman, and a lighting effect from PSP. I used a clone brush on her hair to make it longer and more flowing, likin that clone brush, only used it a few times so far.

That's all, again, didn't want to overdo the effects.

Re: Paint Shop Pro & PhotoFiltre Talk

...well, I was wondering if we can export a transparent Paint Shop Pro .gif file
into Ulead Animation. I downloaded the Ulead trial version and found
a way to do it all right. I prepared a little tutorial that might help.

Export as a .gif in a different Program than Jasc Animation Shop

you can export them in another animation program
(rather than Jasc Animation Software) by doing it
    this way.....

Once you are done working on your pics in Paint shop Pro
and you are ready to open them in an animation software
but not JASC Animation. Let's say ULead Gif Animator for instance.

When you are in Paint Shop Pro, you must export them as transparent
pictures or .gifs in order to keep their transparency. This is what I did.

    1. You go to File
    2. You click on "Export"...
    3. Click on "GIF Optimizer"
    4. Click on "Use Wizard" then follow these directions....
    5. Click on "Existing", then click "next"
    6. To the question. "What is the colour of your background?"
set it or leave it to white, then click "next"
    7. Quality and size: Best image quality.
    8. To the question: "would you like to restrict the colors
to the web-safe palette?" click on "No, choose the best colours"

    9. In the last window, click on "Finish"

Do the same with every pictures you want to export as a .gif.
You can save them all on your desktop.....
Then you can open your gifs in Ulead animations.
I think it will be best to use the Ulead wizard to export them for it will open and put all your gifs side to side just like a normal animation. Make sure you have selected all your frames in the Wizard window ... Once they are all in the Ulead program, you just have to click on the play button to have them play.
You can also set the speed of each frame after. Once you're done you save them as a .gif.

... a transparent one with Ulead animation ;)
