    Nice work Uguel.
Ah, I like that very much. Simple, but elegant like Brad said.
Splendid, we're off for a great Spring time. :D
Indeed it is. :) I wish I had a backyard like that.
    Thanks Marja. ;)
It's not that difficult. :) I only selected, using the guides, a region from where to start.
Applied a smooth chrome effect (Effects > Artistic effects) on that region.
Afterwards I used Selection > Invert and applied Effects > Texture Effects > Tiles.
Deselected everything and moved the guides 10 pixels. Used the Selection tool again and inverted again. Then I applied Effects > Artistic effects > Chrome Toxic which gives the green tiled border.

I've also been busy making a picture, but not like Uguel and Brad. I was more thinking about fantasy  :D, so I made this picture representing a funny ship bringing laughter, joy, sunshine and flowers back to the world.

    Well Eldar,

I think it is official that you are a great fantasy artist in the making!! I love that whole idea and the picture lives up to your explanation! It's just terrific!! :D

(Also finally saw the "Group" picture you did, Thank you! That was very thoughtful and unexpected! :D)

I think fantasy is definitely your forte!

Now, to put your fantasy ideas, Uguel's elegant taste in BBuck's beautiful backyard with his awesome effects!! LOL! Well, it would be interesting! No?:)

Have fun everyone! Keep playing as Eldar says! I am still pluggin away practicing!

Forgot to say how much I liked your snowboarder, Brad!! The energy really comes at you! It' very surrealistic, he's so way over the city building! I like that effect too, what did you use?

    Cheers!

    Glass Mosaic Effect.

    original tutorial

I found this tutorial 2 years ago and I would like to share it with you. :) It is easy to do and achieves nice effects. Although the screenshots windows are in English, it was written in French so I translated it in English. You might refer to the original webpage if you want to see the screenshots windows.

This tutorial can be done in paint Shop pro 6-7-8-9 ;)

    1. Choose a picture that you like that has a solid background colour.

Note:You can open a transparent image and fill it with a colour
that you like... With the flood fill tool and then you add
your tube in it. This is what I did for the roses.

    2. Open your picture in Paint Shop Pro.

    3. Duplicate your picture and close the original.

    4. From the tool palette, select the Magic Wand.
    Set the tolerance to 11
    Feather to 0
    Match Mode: RGB Value

    5. Select the background with the Magic Wand.
Make sure that you have all areas selected.

---> By pressing "shift" while selecting will add/select
    more areas to your selection.<---

    6.Go to the Menu> Selections> Modify> Expand> Number of Pixels>2

    7. Go to the Menu again> Effects>Texture Effects> Glass Mosaic
    Apply these settings:

    Number of Columns: 25
    Number of Rows: 25
    Glass Curvature: 50
    Grout width: 1
    Grout Opacity: 0

    8. Go to the Menu> Selection> Deselect or Select None.

    9. Add any frame you like to your picture.

    10. Save your picture. I usually save it under the .jpg
or JPEG format when there is no layers in it. Otherwise,
I save the pic 2 times, one time under .psp format and
another time as a .jpg or JPEG format. :)

Re: Paint Shop Pro & PhotoFiltre Talk

Ok, Johnny this is for you. ;)
When I open a picture in PSP, this is what I see.
By default we can see more windows but I only
keep the ones that I really need.
You can see the palette tools on the right and the
layers window on the left where it is written "raster 1"

In this example, I opened 2 images, I reduced the second one while working
on the first one. Where is the second picture? Look down in the
window you will see the little rectangle of "reduced image" down in the menu.
if I want to see the image I just click on the "double square" and it
    will open.

What about if I loose the layers window when moving it?
You go to Layers> View> All.....and they will appear again. :)

...or you go to File > Workplace>"Default PSPWorkplace" and everything that you need will appear again. Even the layers that you had been working on. Then you can close the windows you don't need.

    Hope this help. :)

And this is what happens when you click on the eyes...
In this example I had 2 layers:

    Layer 1:the dragon+ the sky
    Layer 2: the moon.

By clicking on the eyes of layer 2 (the moon) I would hide all the info
contained in that layer...that is to say the moon. :)

    Have a look....

Also, you might have a look at page 5
from post 117 to 121. There is an easy tutorial
on layers. You can do it with your own pictures or tubes! :)

Hey! Uguel, that'c cool!! A blinking moon!! Oh! sorry, didn't know you were teaching! I have some problems with layers too. I get confused about what a raster does compared to a vector.
Raster is not changeable? Vector can be changed? That's about all that sticks in my brain, oh, vector can hold more info, is that part right? Sorry, Johnny to butt in on your lesson! I am new to this too! :)

A raster is a layer and a vector is usually a deforming tool
with little squares that you can customize when dragging
the little squares, the selected shape can be either moved, turned
or resized by using the vector tool depending how you drag it or move it.
Do not bother with the vector thing for the moment as I said to Johnny(lol) :D
start by doing an easy tutorial on layers and later you can
play with the deformation tools or vectors.
I do not use the vectors very often.... ;)

Thank you very much Marja. I really love fantasy and science-fiction.
Hard to get that fantasy out of your mind. :D
    You're most welcome. ;)
Isn't it marvellous what you can create with it? I do love creatiing fantasy pictures. Let your imagination free and try to put it into a picture.
You've to have fun. We're no professionals making a living out of it. :D
Thanks Uguel. ;) It's a tube which can be found here.
And you'll see more of it I assure you. :)
Thanks for the tutorial and the lovely pictures.
Thanks Brad. ;) See link above. :D

Easy Tutorial on Blending Modes or Light Effects

I discovered a nice light effect when trying different blending modes today. First, I had this picture of 2 horses grazing in their paddock...I found the pic nice but a little fade... so I decided to enhance the colours a little bit.... :)

    Re: Blending Modes>Paint Shop Pro<

1.I opened my horse pic in Paint Shop Pro, duplicated it and close the original.

    2. I duplicated the picture in order to apply the effect on the duplicated picture....

So I went to the layer palette, right-click on "Background" and from the pop-up window, I hit "Duplicate".

    3. Then I went to the Menu>Effects>Blur> Gaussian Blur and I chose
Gaussian Blur Radius 8. Your picture will become all blurred... that is normal...as long as the effects are applied on the duplicated image, you're safe. ;)

    4. Then I returned to the Layer Palette...I clicked on the little arrow to see more blending options...

    See screenshot.
