I recently took a look at the latest Hexxeh build of ChromeOS. It's based on Gentoo now, but it has no compiler or package management. That's okay for some users, not so okay for me.

Are there any package management options that would work sanely with ChromeOS?

Also, any unofficial custom kernels? The default kernel doesn't support a lot of onboard ethernet cards, including my netbook's.

ChromeOS uses Portage but is not directly Gentoo based (its a very customised build where non of the configuration of Gentoo applies). They are not using Gentoo's source (https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/forum/#!topic/chromium-os-dev/e1csNb8cmkc).

Compilers, package managers are not the point of ChromeOS which is intentionally minimal as the intention is to use the browser for 99% of your tasks.

    Cheers, Nick
