Hi Tony. Good question. I will check with the developer and find out if there is something funny going on. I do know that Agnitum has contracted with several resellers, but I don't have a list of valid ones. www.agnitum.com is a good site I know.
I received a reply already. It seems that resellers set thier prices according to what the market will support. Also resellers may offer support or other benefits not offered by others. Looks like a case of "let the buyer beware". I guess this is the case in purchasing all software with the exception of companies that set a fixed price such as M$.
