I have Disk Director Suite 10.0 build 2,160 in XP SP3 and noticed the following:

    - With drives set offline (e.g. drive with Vista to avoid deletion of Vista restore points in dual boot system) in XP registry, when I keep oss_reinstall.exe in startup tasks, the drives keep being explorable and appear online in system restore (my computer/properties/system restore). If I remove oss_reinstall.exe from startup, offline drives behaviour is normal (i.e. not explorable, and offline in system restore). I am not sure yet whether this really affects the XP handling of Vista restore points but surely this is an inconsistency.

    - A side effect is about an older version of Sonic MyDVD5.2 that in my system after all system updates etc. cannot properly open because of a runtime library error, but when I have oss_reinstall in startup everything works fine like being a special hotfix!

The offline matter is really annoying, any other's experience or advice?

If you're using OSS as the boot manager, why don't you just hide the Vista partition from XP?

If OSS is not being used, you don't need to run the oss_reinstall.exe program.

I don't use OSS to boot, just had the oss_reinstall.exe in startup and caused all above. I have removed that from startup by now.
The benefit was that after realising this behaviour of oss_reinstall I figured out why my old MyDVD 5 did not open from time to time - that was because of offline setting of C: drive (my XP is on D: - I use C: as system drive to dual boot XP and Vista) and MyDVD5 could not see a Profiles folder created in C: Anyway this is another matter/forum.
But, I really would like to know how oss_reinstall affects the use of offline drives. With that in startup it seems that windows explorer can see the offline drives, but other programs cannot. And what about system restore? I wouldn't like to risk trying that to know.
