Lol Identity Shield standalone version hype all over again...

Don't get yer hopes up. In the words of John Carmack of Id Software, it'll be released:

    "When it's done."

We have yet to decide whether we will have a beta program or not, considering that the release is coming very soon. Expect to hear something from me in the next few weeks :)

So many years (im)patiently waiting and we're now on the cusp? Potentially the best Xmas pressy ever! Probably only supported for (Mountain) Lion minimum… but… never-the-less long overdue! ;)

Trouble is Px3/WSA is so reliable(silly/trivial licence anomalies excepted) I don't avidly follow the forums - I could miss this Beta if I'm not careful! :(
Somebody nudge me when they roll…. ;)

Well, WSA for MAC is out... you can download it from here (you need to sign-up at webroot if you want to receive a trial license). I guess it is still at an early stage of development (although a retail version) as not much is there as compared to WSA for windows. :)

WSA for MAC seems to have problems with sites with video (e.g. Youtube). Browsers hangs and become unresponsive whatever browser I use. If I turn OFF the realtime thread shield then everything is back to normal. Weird...

To replicate it I can simply go on the main youtube site and the browser will simply hang while loading the ads on the top of the page.

I recommend writing into our support inbox so that they can take a look. We've had a similar report but yours would definitely be helpful in diagnosing it.

For everyone's information, the Mac product is officially released and live. We'll be adding functionality over the coming months but please let me know if you have any questions :)

I've logged a few problems as well and already had two sessions with the support engineers. They were very helpful. An additional item that I've logged, is an issue with not being able to enter international characters (on a Mac, you just keep, for instance, the 'e' key pressed and the variations on that character appears in a popup window). Instead, the keys are repeating. And slow copying of files, both local and on the network. But I trust those problem will be fixed soon.

Oh! I didn't know that was an option on a MAC... Interesting! I am really a novice on this system :)

Just curious as to how much design/code review you were personally involved in?
Only because this OS version took me precisely 8 minutes to break from initial installation! ;)

Seriously I appreciate it's a new product but I have to wonder at the wisdom of not releasing a more comprehensive Public Beta trial first? :(

Logs etc already submitted to WR Support…..

Our support team should be able to help you out - it is a new product but it's shaping up very well from what we've seen so far. Let me know if you come across any additional issues :)

I noticed that there is almost no info on the Mac version on Webroots site, the products have a checkmark with Mac compatibility and the supported Mac OS'es are listed in the specs, but there is nothing more than that. There is no Mac version among the free trials section and if you register for a trial it only gives you an EXE version.

What features does the Mac product have compared to the windows version? Does it have Identity Shield, Firewall, Back-up etc? And the more under the hood things such as tracking all the activity of untrusted programs, pop-up for driver install on higher heuristic settings etc?
