The device, called the Oppo Watch, was exclusively meant to be sold on the Chinese Market and ran an in-house Android-based OS. However, a new promotional video seems to point the company is about to release a refreshed version of the product that will ship with Wear OS.

There's very little known information about the device, but its close resemblance to the original Oppo Watch might indicate it'll ship with the same 1.91-inch AMOLED screen and aluminum frame. It should also feature activity and health tracking sensors, as some of them are also clearly visible on the video.

According to Engadget, we should have further details on the company's upcoming smartwatch on July 31st. In the meantime, we can only suspect the company is working on releasing its existing watch with a more international OS while keeping the same internals as the original.

Now, the Oppo Watch is launching globally, and it’s very different from the China-only version.
For starters, the Oppo Watch is running Wear OS, Google’s smartwatch operating system. That means it has access to thousands of apps, watch faces, and comes with direct access to Google Fit.

Performance should be pretty good, no matter which version you buy. The Oppo Watch is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset, though it doesn’t have the newest 4100 chip.
Oppo included another chip on the Oppo Watch to help with battery life.

The Wear OS-powered Oppo Watch is being released in select markets starting today, July 31. It goes on sale in India starting August 10 priced at Rs. 14,990 (~$200) and Rs. 19,990 (~$269) for the 41mm and 46mm versions, respectively. Meanwhile, smartwatch fans in the UK can pick up the 46mm version for £369 (~$484) from October or the 41mm from September 3 for £229 (~$300).

The Oppo Watch looks good overall, but there are some obvious things that might turn people away — the Apple design cues, the lack of a rotatable dial, and the missing Snapdragon 4100 SoC are the big offenders.

It’s easy to see why people have pegged the Oppo Watch as an Apple Watch clone. Squint your eyes and it looks like an Apple Watch. Say the name fast enough and it sounds like Apple Watch. Elements of the UI and packaging were clearly inspired by the Apple Watch, too.
That said, “clone” is a loaded word, intended to immediately bias people against something as inappropriately derivative.

Blame Oppo if you want, but Qualcomm and Google are the companies that quietly made Oppo Watch (and a huge collection of less impressive wearables) possible. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 3100 is the chip inside, and Wear OS by Google powers most of the software.

The first thing that stands out about my 46mm Oppo Watch review unit is its atypically large screen: It has a 1.91-inch AMOLED display, visibly bigger than the latest 44mm Apple Watch’s 1.78-inch screen, and with a higher resolution — 476 by 402 pixels versus 448 by 368. As an iPhone user, I wouldn’t pick the Oppo Watch over my current Apple Watch. But I’m going to envy that bigger screen, bigger battery, and Oppo’s watch face options until Apple catches up with them. The race to see who’s first and best just became a little more crowded, and whether you consider its design derivative or evolutionary, it’s nice to see Oppo in the running.

The Oppo Watch debuted globally in July with Google’s Wear OS powering the show. However, it arrived without a key feature from its Chinese counterpart — ECG support. Now, a new Oppo Watch with ECH is apparently on the way, and it’s possibly the first Wear OS watch to support the feature.

In a post on Weibo, Oppo proudly announces that the Oppo Watch is getting a new worldwide release that brings the needed sensors and hardware to perform an electrocardiogram, commonly referred to as an ECG.
Support for ECG on a smartwatch is something the Apple Watch first brought to market, but recently it’s also been adopted by Fitbit and Samsung. However, not a single Wear OS manufacturer has managed to include the feature.

Unfortunately, there’s no confirmation of that in this initial teaser. We’ll find out in a few days when this new variant launches on September 23.

In the Weibo post where Oppo announced this new watch, a translation from Chinese to English says that Oppo already has clearance from Chinese authorities to support this ECG functionality, although GSMArena claims that the US FDA has also granted clearance.

Oppo has officially launched the Watch 2 smartwatch and packs the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 chipset plus a supposed 16-day lifespan.

Positioned as a direct successor to last year’s original Oppo Watch, the Watch 2 includes some notable upgrades but no mention was made as to the potential international availability. The design is very familiar, in that it still looks very much like an Apple Watch and retains the squared-off design with two right-sided buttons providing access to the menus and watch functions.
Available in 42mm and 46mm sizes, Oppo is also offering an eSIM compatible version and a Bluetooth-only model, which is limited to 42mm.

The biggest upgrade to the Oppo Watch 2 is the inclusion of the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 chipset.
24-hour heart rate tracking and SpO2 monitoring is supported alongside the usual suite of sleep tracking, stress tracking, and more.

Oppo claims that the Watch 2 can last up to 16 days on a single charge but only when using the in-built Power Saver mode. While that is impressive, certain features will be disabled when using this mode.
