Firefox, in my opinion, simply rules. It is over twice as fast as IE (on Windows, at any rate), less buggy, more secure, and in general less irritating.

The only drawback, really, is that it isn't compatible with Shockwave, Flash, and ActiveX, which a lot of sites use. In my opinion, though, this is not a drawback - I tend to find Flash annoying, and ActiveX is a massive, gaping vulnerability.

No offence, but this is nonsense. Firefox works fine with Shockwave and Flash plugins.

Admittedly, some people have problems installing these plugins, but that's another story.

Hi, I actually tried it, it works fine on my Firefox 0.9 . Could you be more specific about the problem? Does the browser hang? Does the applet fail to start at all?

Are you using any extensions like adblock?

    PS cool game btw

Well, first it didn't even download the Java-applet. The browserwindow just closed down. Now it does download the applet, and you can log in and play about 1 minute. And then the browserwindow closes again (so everything is gone, and i just look at my desktop).

My CPU for Mozilla is(while playing the game) between 85-90%. And no, i am not using any extensions from Mozilla (not that i am aware of anyway). I do use adblock from ZoneAlarm and Google, but that never gave any problems with IE.

Thank you very much for any help you can give :).

(if this works, i will ask her not to kill you in wild :D )

Have you tried their forum? It's busy right now because of the new release.

Yes i have, but haven't got an answer yet..but i have noticed something
: When i play the game choosing "low detail Min. Spec 64Mb RAM +300MHz CPU" instead of " high detail 128 Mb Ram +500MHz CPU" i am able to use Mozilla 1.6 and Firefox 0.9 to play the game without crashes! o_O

But like i said with IE6, Opera, ... i can play the game choosing high detail.
I am no "computer specialist" at all, on the contrary.
But i am inquisitive ;-) hoping to learn (again) something interesting from you guys & girls here :D

    PS: the 2 pc's are 2 pentium IV, 2.6 & 3.0 GHz, 512 MB, with XP

May i post one more time... :doubt:

Today i was able to play the game choosing "high detail" and ...NO CRASHES....
So perhaps it isn't firefox but then ...there was someone who replied on the mozilla forum that he couldn't play the game with the signed applet, he had also crashes.
S now i am completely lost, don't understand it at all.
Moderator i know this is a Security forum, so please be free to remove this one and i apologize if it was not the appropriate place , but i would like to use firefox instead of IE because many here say IE is not secure, but if i want to convince the rest of the family here...

I once reported a bug and was amazed how quick it was picked up by the development team. Within 24 hours the ticket was routed a few times. Thumbs up!

    Sig,
Is there a thread where it shows the ads that you're writing about...like maybe a good screenshot or can you post one here?

Also would there be no conflict if I have all 3 browsers on board...ie, ff, & opera?

The protection i have for IE, would I have it on the other 2 browser after i download themo_O

    Thanks.

Here are what the ads looklike in opera 7.51 You don't need the IE protection on opera or firefox.

No there would be no conflict.

It depends on what type of protection we are talking about.
But in general the answer is no.

I've tried Firefox, and it's a nice browser. However, I don't use it as my primary browser due to SSH security issues as discussed on Markus Jansson's web site (bottom of main page). Are these concerns still valid with the latest version of Firefox?

Have you asked your question on the Mozilla forums, Dazed? You may have better luck getting an answer over there. Anything Mozilla, and they'll have the answer. Never hurts to check it out. http://forums.mozillazine.org/index.php
