I've just done a quick test of 12.18. The certificate issues have been fixed and I can get on https sites that weren't working before. Font issue seems to be fixed but I'm going to run it a while before I'm totally sure on this as the bad fonts appear at random intervals. Dragonfly works fine in contradiction to the post on the Vivaldi forum. Looks like we got a few more years of life out of presto.

I changed my TLS settings in the past so I can't comment if 1.1 and 1.2 have been turned on by default, but I did see they now support ECC cvryptography and more changes in the ciphersuites:
Ciphersuites with RSA_ECDHE and ECDSA_ECDHE keyexchange added.
Ciphersuites with AES in GCM mode added.
    Ciphersuites with DH(E)_DSS keyexchange removed.
    Ciphersuites with DH_RSA keyexchange removed.
    Ciphersuites with RC4 removed.
Ciphersuites with with AES in CBC and SHA2 removed.(Only SHA1 now, and AES-GCM with SHA2. Probably because the use of AES-CBC with SHA2 is almost non-existent.)

Thanks so much Zord for the update. I updated my portable version and enabled TLS 1.1 and 1.2.

It is such huge news that I wonder if we could at least change the thread title from
    Opera 12.17 released(Updated 16 Feb 2016)
    to
    Opera 12.17 released(Updated 16 Feb 2016 to version 12.18 )

Installed over the existing version, no problems, as usual. Why did they ever abandon this great browser is beyond me.

I 2nd updating title. I'm tempted I stopped Opera when they abandoned bookmarks & engine. Started using Opera when there was a paid version & free version 2" banner advert version.

  10. Great news for XP users, will put Opera back on relatives PC running XP, with GeSWall garding it.

For me 12.18 is working very well on 64-bit Windows 7 and, of course, on 32-bit XP.

I can't understand why those new Operas can't carry over the identical Bookmarks system, and identical Edit Site preferences. Until that's done, I stay with this version.

It works well here too but I not recommend to use it on stable/daily machines because it's unclear/not mentioned how often it gets updates or if that is the last version or not. Security wise you better use another Browser.

    Last was 12.16 :)
.17 and .18 were surprises for us.
I will use another browser when their creators master how to do Bookmarks correctly and when they provide a way to edit specific site preferences with equal ease as in Opera 12.

I'm thinking with the 1.25 billion buyout pending. That selling was the long term plan. It was known the mobile platform is valuable & the desktop a money/resource drain. And rather than appear weak make an unappealing desktop version to free up money & resources.

Just like businesses advertise & interview for new hires. But don't hire anyone.

forget opera from portable apps - opera 12 is portable itself:
    http://www.opera-usb.com/download.htm

    extract "Opera_1218_int_Setup.exe" (x64: Opera_1218_int_Setup_x64.exe) and insert "operaprefs_default.ini" to opera.exe
    Code:
    Opera Preferences version 2.1
; Do not edit this file while Opera is running
; This file is stored in UTF-8 encoding

    [System]
    Multi User=0

    [User Prefs]
    Language Files Directory={Resources}locale\de
    Language File={Resources}locale\de\de.lng

(this is for the german language - exchange "de" with "en" for englisch)

copy any \profile to \profile to the extracted folder.

No need for that, just download the Opera installer, run it, click on the Options button and select
"Stand-alone installation (USB)" from the "Install for" drop-down list.

lol the stupid browserscope test. with plain firefox i have 15/17, with full protection i also have 15/17 (one test both fail, the other differs - so what now?). same for opera 35 stable. waste of time.

and sorry, testing with XP is so damn stupid...
