    Hello,
I downloaded that free utility from DiamondCS. Extract it in its own
    directory in C:\Program Files\OpenPorts.
Now when I try to open it, I can see the windows for a couple of seconds and it closes by itself. o_O
    Any idea? thanks.

Extract openports.exe to C: drive. Go to start, run, and type cmd in the box.
A window will open. Type c:/openports.exe

you can also put it in the C:\WINDOWS\system32 directory, then you only need to type openports in the dos box. this is because windows will automatically check in certain places for dos programs when you want to run one, another place is the windows directory. :)
