OBS Studio 27.1 is here almost four months after OBS Studio 27.0 to add YouTube integration, a feature that helps users connect their YouTube account without using a stream key, create and manage YouTube streams through a new “Manage Broadcast” button, and easily set up settings for their streams, such as privacy settings, description, title, scheduling, etc.

If you don’t like compiling software from sources, you need to wait for OBS Studio 27.1 to appear in your distro’s stable software repositories. Ubuntu 21.04, Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, and Linux Mint users can install this update right now by using the official PPA.

OBS Studio 27.2 Released with Official Flatpak Support, More Robust PipeWire Capturing

OBS Studio 27.2 is the second major update in the 27.x series, after OBS Studio 27.1, bringing several exciting new features for Linux users, such as official Flatpak support so you can more easily install the software on your favorite GNU/Linux distribution.

Also for Linux users, the new OBS Studio release alphabetically sorts the list of windows shown when selecting Window Capture as the source, makes PipeWire capturing more robust, especially in multi-GPU setups, and introduces a framework that paves the way for upcoming support of background hotkeys on Wayland.

OBS Studio 27.2.1 Improves Camera Support and PipeWire Capture on Linux

Coming just a week after the launch of OBS Studio 27.2, the OBS Studio 27.2.1 point release is here to address a few issues reported by users from the previous release, as well as to improve some of the existing functionality in an attempt to make the software more stable and reliable during recordings and streaming.

Specific to Linux users, the OBS Studio 27.2.1 release improves camera support by addressing an issue where some cameras wouldn’t decode correctly on GNU/Linux systems and plugs a memory leak in the new PipeWire capture feature.

It also adds a “legendary” workaround to fix some sort of driver/kernel bug that made the browser source trigger a full system freeze for some NVIDIA GPU users, improves the performance of the updated Chromium build of the browser source, and updates the AOM/SVT encoders to pull in new upstream features.
