i was trying to boot my recovery partition on my laptop after installing vista
and i figured i'd use acronis oss to load that partition.
anyways i guess i should of thought it through a little better, it worked but
now the oss gives me "error 3" and the laptop just keeps booting to the
    recovery partition.
any way to fix this without formatting? (i did a non destructive restore because i have a few files i'd like to save)

I haven't installed my beta copy of Vista yet - but so far the recommendations in other posts here is to let Vista manage the boot loading at the moment.

With your problem if it is the MBR3 error, then you need to boot using the recovery CD (TI) and de-activate OSS - I assume Vista has the same commands as XP so you then need to boot into console mode with Vista and run fixmbr

It might be worthwhile and see what happens if you just reboot after de-activating OSS.
