    Hello,

Verifying that the expiration notices and mechanisms work correctly is part of the beta-testing process, but it could be that ESET will release a new license (or update the existing one) before then.

I thought these 9 days are from a previous trial version but I dont think so. I always tried cybersecurity until the last day.

iMac (2007) 21 inches display screen
2,4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    3 Gb DDR2 SDRAM 667 MHz
    OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard

    Opera browser v11.62
    Chromium browser v19.0.1060.0
    Firefox browser v13
    LibreOffice
    VLC
    TeamViewer

I use mainly Opera for internet and mail and Chromium for video and streaming. Since I installed Cybersecurity beta, with Chromium, I experienced many freezing with streaming for video, TV program and sports, it is very annoying. No problem with Cybersecurity v4 trial or Avast free antivirus for Mac.

    Hi Aryeh,

I can help out with this matter. I traced the freezing issue to a problem with esets_proxy process. I have already filed a ticket (which was closed as fixed on next release) #70732 that will address the freezing issue.

    It was extremely annoying.

    Hello,

Does temporarily uninstalling Chromium—just for testing purposes—make any difference?

    Hi Aryeh,

The browser doesn't seem to make a difference. Apparently there's a problem with the proxy plugin altogether. My last straw to make me uninstall was that this happened when ESET attempted to update it's definitions.

The lock-ups typically happened on streaming content such as video streams, but not always. I've seen it happened for general web surfing as well. Applications that uses http protocol also encounters problems such as Tweetdeck, Seesmic Desktop and Boxcar.io.

My conclusion that the problem was generalized to the http protocol scanning.

What was the solution to this? I have the exact same problem. There are two processes called esets_proxy that are both running at more than 100%. I had to uninstall this as it was causing my computer to run very hot and the fans were screaming. (sorry if this was posted twice)

There isn't one. We have to be patient for a new beta to be release that will fix this issue.

I finally figured out that you have to disable the Web protection feature to stop the process called esets_proxy from running the CPU up to 100%. While this leaves you partially exposed, real time file protection is still running. But you're right we have to wait for the next update to fix this. Hopefully we have this by the end of the month.

I wouldn't hold out on that hope. I reported the bug to ESET at the end of May. Still haven't seen an update.
