The popular peer-to-peer Bitcoin trading site LocalBitcoins has supposedly been compromised: Founded in 2012, LocalBitcoins has become one of the most popular peer-to-peer (P2P) bitcoin trading platform worldwide.

According to a thread on Reddit, when visiting the URL leading to LocalBitcoins’ forum page, users are prompted to log into their account, as if they have been logged out.
This only happens in case the user is already logged in, concluding that this is a phishing attempt, sending users’ 2FA codes to the hacker.

Withdrawals on the platform have reportedly been temporarily halted. The platform has also disabled its forum.

Australian adult industry startup intimate.io is reportedly planning to launch its digital currency payments gateway. The company also has its own native crypto token called Intimate (ITM) which may be used for “payment, privacy, and reputation” across the adult industry.

The Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) has partnered with major global blockchain firm Blockstream to launch its Cryptocurrency Data Feed product, as ICE Data Services tweeted on Jan. 24.

Founded in 2000 in the United States, the Intercontinental Exchange is a global company that owns exchanges for financial commodity markets and operates 23 global exchanges, including the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

Poramin Insom, the founder of the privacy-centric cryptocurrency Zcoin (XZC) is allegedly being targeted by “government-backed attackers” who are attempting to steal his Google account login credentials, the tech giant has warned.

Some believe Insom is being targeted for creating the cryptocurrency, after someone added to Zcoin’s blockchain a piece of anti-government content that, given the technology’s nature, cannot be censored.
Via Facebook, Insom shared that Google warned him state-backed attackers were going after him, and advised him to join Google’s Advances Protection Program, created for “users at risk of targeted attacks.”

Given Insom created the cryptocurrency, some believe he is now being targeted by the government, presumably as it looks for answers on how it can compromise the cryptocurrency’s blockchain or figure out whether he was behind the transaction.

They aim to identify trades with suspected links to phishing, predatory lending, pyramid schemes and other illegal activities and share related information via the hotline, the exchanges said.

The exchanges will also operate a shared database of suspicious wallet addresses that would, for example, be able to help them identify and halt scammers looking to use different exchanges to move a large quantity of cryptocurrency to the same wallet.

Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange based on trading volume, will now let you spend money you don’t have after it added support for credit cards from Visa and Mastercard.

Credit card usage in crypto is controversial.
Coinbase, for example, stopped allowing credit card purchases a year ago but, when it still allowed them, customers were found to have incurred additional charges.

Credit cards can only be used to purchase a limited set of tokens, those are Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Ripple’s XRP. There are also geographical limitations.
Finally, support for banks is not universal, too, which means that some users will not be able to buy on Binance using their credit card.

A US-based bitcoin ATM operator called Cottonwood Vending has recently received a coveted license that allows it to deal in cryptocurrencies in the state of New York, called BitLicense. The license sees the company join a select few crypto firms who are allowed to operate within the Empire State.

New York’s Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) announced Cottonwood received the BitLicense through twitter. Notably, Cottonwood is the second bitcoin ATM operator to receive the license.
Coinsource, the world’s largest bitcoin ATM operator, was the first crypto ATM firm to receive the state’s Virtual Currency License, which allows the firms who receive it to legally operate as a money transmitter and digital currency exchange.
