    Hi there,

Can't seem to find the comparison page of Online Armor, used to have a table of features between premium and free editions. Would you be able to point me in the right direction?

I'd like to see a detailed comparative table freemium vs premium as well.

Yeah, the comparison table is gone now. Basically, what you get in the Premium version which you don't get in the free version are:

    - Banking mode
    - File/folder protection
    - Registry protection
    - Custom ICMP and RAW configurations
    - Custom IP and country restrictions
    - Custom port restrictions
    - More controls over ports and protocols used by the programs
    - Option to block all internet traffics during a system boot until OA is fully running
    - Option to enable Windows firewall when OA is disabled
    - Filtering invalid MAC addresses
    - Option to uninstall the firewall component only
    - Backup/restore OA configurations
    - Hotkeys
    - Contribution to support the future development of OA

There might be more that I didn't include in here.

Are you sure the HIPS is that much watered down in the free version?

Yep. The file/folder and registry protection features are only accessible via the advanced mode, and the advanced mode itself is only available in the Premium version.

Thank you very much. Then actually freemium is less secure than premium.

Probably worth noting for those unfamiliar with the application that the free version does protect key files/folders and areas of the registry by default. For example, Unknown/Untrusted programmes can't create an auto-start registry entry or write to the Windows folder without user approval.

What the free version doesn't have is the advanced mode where it is possible to write more granular read/write/block rules for user specified file, folder and registry items.

It's my favourite feature of OA Premium and makes it pretty powerful against ransomware by allowing you to set your key data folders to block or read-only for unknown and untrusted programmes. I get the same from other apps I use so don't need it but for others it makes it worth buying IMO.

    Cheers

    It sounds reassuring. Thank you.

I agree with this statement too. Basically the advanced features are nice things to have, but you won't be doomed if they are not available for you.

And that's pretty much the only thing I want from the Premium version. When I can fix some of my problems here with OA I might going to buy a license. That is, unless I was lost in security yet again. :D

New v7 looks to be pretty good, but I don't agree with the subscription model for a firewall and HIPS, which don't require continuous updates. If they change to a perpetual license for OA Premium with 1 or 2 years free upgrades, then I might buy a license. Until then it's way too expensive due to continual costs!
