    Mike,

Any news about the timetable concerning the new version for OA Free (without the "hang" problem) ? :)

It is fixed. Some minor changes to be made today, and an RC will be given to beta team tomorrow.

Bootup with the new OA is much, much faster now for those that had this issue.

With luck - tomorrow evening (Aus time) after beta team have validated that their issues have been solved, we'll do a release.

After that - we go forward with next set of changes.

Many thanks, Mike. I like OA. When the latest release comes out, will you post where it may be downloaded? On the regular OA site, or somewhere else??

Very good news Mike. Congratulation on solving one of the only two questions I had about OA. :)

I have question for you. Before the optimalization of OA firewall for p2p (my post about eMule) do you think I will be OK to use OA without firewall with WIndows XP firewall instead. I am behind router Linksys AG241 with its own firewall.

Or that will be security unwise and better is using some better software firewall then Windows XP?

PS. Did you resign to send me PM the link to this beta that you offered to me for checking?

    Hi Feniks,

I just forgot to let you have a key. Been very busy - the good news is, I plan to release it in just a minute - just preparing a post with change logs.

It will be ok to use OA without firewall (indeed, firewall is recent addition to OA) until we solve your problem.

    Cheers

    Mike

Hi Mike, I understand that you are busy man and I really admire you how you can manage this work you are doing.

This new version .30 is installing flawlessly. At this moment I am after flawless installation. All is lock and load. So I think this matter with beta is not actual, anyway you were talking about version .29. :)

Thank you Mike for your support. :thumb:

Fixed - No Disk problem when install from CD/DVD

The new version has still the autoruns issue after inserting a cd.

Everything is alright until I hit the program tab (configuration), then I am asked to insert a missing CD or DVD. I had OA in the learning mode after inserting a cd with autoruns.

After that it always asks for a missing cd, sadly enough I had to uninstall OA.

It looks like a great FW/HIPS but this issue is very annoying.

    Hello,

I'm thinking to start to test the trial AV+ version of OA (replacing the Eset Smart Security Suite completely) and did a lot of reading several forums the last couple of days.
I noticed here that the latest release of OA Free is version 2.1.0.30 (release date 14/11) and the latest release of OA AV+ is still version 2.1.0.11 (release date 4/10). So, my conclusion is that OA Free is maintained much more then the paid AV+ version. Shouldn't that be the other way round?

Another question: are program updates for the AV+ version automatically downloaded/installed or does the user do it manually?

No, OA+AV was already developed. OA-Free is the new offering that needed a couple fixes to get it working properly.

So, I may assume that the shared parts of AV+ and Free are equally?
And the Free version needed some maintenance the Av+ doesn't because of the removing of some AV+ features?

Here is a quote from the beta forum:

    ===
    Hi Everyone

I took Build 30 of Free, and I released it today.

We will also release Build 30 to the updates server for the Paid OA in the next few days (technical reasons).

    ...

    And yes, OA full autoupdates.

Yes, exactly. OA+AV, OA+ & OA-Free all perform equally. OA+ has the advanced features that the free lacks and the OA+AV, obviously has the AV (KAV 5). All come with the FW & HIPS. OA-Free 2.1.0.19 was the version tested by Matousec that scored 100%!!!

So, if I install the trial AV+ v. 2.1.0.11 today, it should be updated automatically to v. 2.1.0.30 in a couple of days?

Not that I've heard. Do you beta-testo_O That can cause some rather "unique" issues.
