    NOT by a long shot, as long as folks like you still post from time to time.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    To go a smidgeon off-topic, THIS PDF download reports on a different type of test that might interest some of you -- especially gamers & folks who are concerned with systems impact of their AV.
    The test deals with the *system impact* of various AVs & covers such factors as: Boot Time, Scan Time, Scan Time of a Solid State Drive, User Interface Launch Time, Browse Time, Memory Usage during System Idle, Internet Explorer Launch Time, Installation Time, Installation Size, Registry Key Count, File Copy & Move & Delete, Installing Third Party Applications, Network Throughput, File Format Conversion, File Compression and Decompression, File Write, Open and Close
    REPEAT - the link yields a PDF download (about 1.06 MB)
    Spyware Doctor, Outpost AV, Zone Alerm AV, Bitdefender AV, Eset AV, McAfee, BkAV Pro & Tizer Secure tested. I tested the main build of Eset because previously I tested the online scanner. Spyware Doctor surprisingly scored better than the free version. Zoe Alerm scored much bad than Kaspersky.
    I will end the test after testing VirIt explorer and also arrange the results in a sequential manner.
    MAXSECURE AV 2010
    MaxSecure Antivirus Pro 2010
    Thanks for answering that SweX.:)
    @trajm, I tried Prevx again but it cannot detect more than 255 malwares due to the limitaion I stated before...:'(
    MaxSecure that scored good is actually a clone of Ikarus, http://maxsecure.eu/ . Other Maxsecure uses Vipre engine http://www.maxpcsecure.com/maxsecureantivirus.htm .
    Guys I could not test Vipre as it was giving multiple BSOD on my VM. KAV 2011 can't be installed as it was detecting other AV which were uninstalled and Panda Cloud was giving different results in on scanning on the same set may be a problem with the cloud.
    NP Mate;)
    To bad you wasn't able to test PCAV, Vipre and KAV 2011 due to the issues wich occured, since they really should be on the list of tested products.
    Yes you have to satisfy with the results of Panda AV 2010 (in place of PCAV), Ad Aware Free/Maxsecure AV (in place of Vipre) and Kaspersky AVP tool (in place of KAV 2011)..:)
    You could put the malware in different folders with max 250 samples per folder and then scan one folder at a time ;)
    PS
    Because of its strong behaviour component, executing each sample would give a better detection than right-click scan, but that probably takes to much time with so much samples :p
    I have talked to PrevxHelp And there's nothing that can be done as Prevx protects it's self from being abused for these types of testing and they will not be changing it!
    Sorry,
    For a long time -- going all the way back to Notok -- Prevx has abstained from being tested by AV-C or any other 3rd party test organization. As revealed by TH, they even build their app so that it cannot be fully tested against a database that is large enough to be statistically significant.
    Hmmmm........ :cautious:
    How exactly is Prevx being abused by these tests? Is AV-Comparatives abusing the anti-virus softwares it tests? Funny, many other anti-malware venders don't feel the need to protect themselves from "abuse".
    It's just my opinion and not from Prevx!! I could see it being unneeded load on there cloud servers and they are being tested 24 hours a day 7 Days a Week and 365 Days a Year by "West Coast Labs" http://www.prevx.com/certification.asp
    Maybe just have a folder of 255 random threats out of either the 500 or 5000 lots and see how many Prevx detects?
    Is there anywhere a West Coast website that openly displays the comparative detection rates of Prevx & the other security apps tested by West Coast Labs? AFAIK, the answer is No.
    Is there a display of comparative false positives? AFAIK, the answer is No.
    Is there a published criteria as to what quantitative, objective detection results must be attained in order to achieve certification by West Coast Labs? AFAIK, the answer is No.
    Perhaps I have overlooked West Coast Labs website whereat they openly disclose their test results. If so, my apologies in advance. If not -- what if any significance should we attach to undisclosed comparative test results from a "by-paid-subscription" lab?
