With all due respect I have my sincere objections to this test.

    1.
    The disclaimer:
    fine.

    2.
    The learning curve for sg09:
by all means (see posting by Dr who).

    3.
The info about the scanners (settings etc.):
    fine !!!

    4.
    The test itself:
of almost zero to zero value.
With all due respect, I cannot believe my eyes reading it and all the comments (like "great test"). Haven't we learned after all those years?

If I have to be the bad guy (which I don't want to be), then so be it....

This isn't supposed to be a serious test ;)

    Sg09, ever heard of DefenX?
    http://www.defenx.com/

And more info about the company wich is based in Switzerland:
    http://www.defenx.com/about-us.html
Their HQ looks like a factory though:D

Defenx was listed on the latest VB RAP test. Just thought i'll mention this one incase you want to test yet another one.

Regarding the engine though, I don't know if Defenx uses it's own engine or if it has a licensed one.

    Cheers.

I think they are using VirusBuster engine. GUI looks identical to VirusBuster and also Outpost (also using VirusBuster engine).

Yes DefenX is a puro copy of Outpost. They use both the AS of Augnithum and AV of Virusbuster. I will test Outpost...:)

How would you find out how many threats NPE detects? It doesn't list the number of infections.

Looking at a video I have, you might be able to get a number from the log generated.

The official word for NPE is that it's main design is for rogues.

The title of this thread is OLD malwares, & those are just a teeny slice of the threats out there in the wild today.

Comodo has withheld itself from most every major test and rating organization except for Matousec's silly leak tests. For good reasons, I assume. Comodo AV might be okay but - inasmuch as they do not participate in objective testing -- who knows how good or bad they really are? (They do however have *advocates/enforcers*. No doubt we will hear from them rather quickly.)

If i understand corectly, very soon,or maybe next time we will see Comodo on AV Comparatives. If it's true,we will see.I'm not a fanboy,i just want to say that for almost 5 months for now since i use the whole suite (i know, very short period),never had an infection. And i use to visit not so "respectable" sites..But the improved CAV is showed not only by the OP tests, there are others against zero day malware where CAV surpassed well known AV vendors. If the time will come and i will be badly disappointed by CAV,i always have the choice to use another AV.But 'till then,i'm happy with it.

    Hey bellgamin,

The battle is almost lost, old friend. :'(
It is a complete amateur test being done for fun, nothing more, nothing less.
As far as testing is concerned,
The only value might be with respect to the info about scanners, but that's all.

Norton Power Eraser, CMC Antivirus, Clamwin and Counterspy tested. Norton PowerEraser was tested with aggressive settings. Both NPE and Counterspy seems to have skipped the NE files. Surprising result of ClamWin compared t Immunet Free and Clam Cloud may be because it scanned all the files. CMC Antivirus is a Vietnamese AV. http://www.cmcinfosec.com/. It has a free version.

@malexous: NPE do have a log file and I tested it as a good heuristic scanner only like ByteHero and FSB Antivirus.
