I use AVG Free 7.0 on a quite old computer (128MB RAM, Celeron 1.1Ghz). I see that the mail plugin uses an extra 1.6MB of memory. So if I disable it, the entire memory used by AVG would be around 1.8MB! (Pretty good, since it's AVG and it's version 7.0)

I check my email through my web browser, Is it safe to disable this plugin, I don't use en email client...?

If you are not wanting it to scan your mail there should not be a problem disabling it.
