Oh! Now I get it! Sell the Beta!!!

Most software companies freely supply the beta version of software for debugging. Acronis has a whole new spin. Sell the beta and then use a forum for debugging. This imaging software has to be the most bugged up software being sold! Think I am exaggerating? Take a look at the daily postings to this forum. Take for instance the software does not recognize its own serial number. Why? because the permissions are not set correctly in the registry. So you buy a piece a software and the first thing you must be capable of is editing the registry?? That should go well with the newbies!! What is really wrong here is that they have a very poor install utility!! Secondly if you do a full image backup but select only a file or directory from that image than you end up with corrupted files on your main drive that nothing short of a OS reinstall can cure!! Not so say you!! Then start reading some of these posts. Acronis support solutions to most problems? Send your computer info files to Customer Support. Why? READ AS So we can debug this version of our software.

 

Nothing new said there... I do think it would be a good idea for Acronis to offer free upgrades to existing customers when the next version comes out given the issues that customers have had to put up with.

 

In that case they would never have any repeat customers because this has been going on with every new version since ti6

On a more positive side, I has found a method with ti that works for me everytime, although it does not incorporate any of the claimed extended features.

I am just happy I can restore an image that works.
