The changelog over the previous live build, .206, is:

    - (P30) Improved support for user switching
    - (P3E) Added Enterprise cache support
    - (PSO) Improved antikeylogging on foreign keyboards
    - (P30) Improved self protection

Thanks Joe for the keylogger fix! It made me feel comfortable using Prevx again. Prevx is simply outstanding.

Can we expect an update to the Facebook version in days to come? By the way, it would be nice for the offical prevx facebook page at www.prevx.com to state the current release version. :)

    Hi

I second M00nbloods request for the version number to be shown on Facebook.

Is it thoughtlessness, or simply a desire for obscurity?

No - it is because version numbers differ between partners/builds/etc. We have some partners on completely different versions and, for instance, the Enterprise version is always different from the consumer version number.

There is no single version number for all Prevx users - we update existing users to new versions but not immediately as we wait for other AVs to fix any FPs or for us to ensure that the version is stable across our community.

Not sure if this is an issue with .209 or just a glitch in my licensing, but here goes:

Prevx remains functional and the license is still applied, but it occasionally pops up with the "too many machines" dialogue box, but takes no action, as in, it still works and I have full protection enabled.

    Just putting that out there.

    Also, on another note:

I can no longer get the user switching issue to happen. I'm not sure what was up the other day when I went haywire and started yelling at Joe like a crazy person. I can't get that to happen again.

I had a "user switching party" and tested my Win 7 laptop next to my Win Vista PC and switched users and logged off like crazy and Prevx works like a charm.

If I can get something to be reproducible I will have a remote support session but it might just be an occasional thing now.

If you could send me your license key in a PM, I'll take a look from there :)

:) Let me know if you do find anything else and I'll take a look.

When I wrote this, I mean to show the current release for the Facebook version, otherwise we'd have to download it quite a few times to check whether or not a newest version is out already. At least, so far, I haven't seen the Facebook version update by itself, not even manually, it states the current version is already installed. And, when previous version came out, which was quite imediatally, it did not update, so, I'm guessing it won't update, despite that in the settings the option to download updates is ticked o_O Quite confusing. :D

It does update, though the SafeOnline version is sometimes slower then the normal one. It also skipped a few versions once before getting updated to the latest. Also when the update is released, both with Prevx version and SafeOnline version, the update is distributed over several days to the clients. So it may happen that you click check for updates right after release announcement and get the update, and the next time you do it right after the announcement it says you have the latest version and then it updates 2 days later.

Alright, it happened again. Cold boot, log into SUA, it started up and prompted me to renew my license as it expired, and protection was disabled. I had to launch it again from start menu, go through UAC to enable protection, and then it worked, but still told me my license was expired.

EDIT: It doesn't do this consistently though, so I'm wondering if perhaps it's just a one-time issue. Is it more of a license bug than a Prevx bug? Hard to say...perhaps let me do some more testing and see if it does this on my laptop.

If it's saying your license is expired, that would seem to be a completely different issue. Are you still using the license key you PM'd me a couple days ago? I've checked it and don't see anything which would cause it to be expired but if so, I'll send you another license to hopefully find what's causing it.

    Good morning Joe:

I will let you know if it happens again. It might just be a once per install glitch that corrected itself. It happened once so far on my desktop, and it did not happen on my laptop.

It said my license expired and to please renew but it didn't actually deactivate my license, it did shut off protection though and I had to re-enable it. But hopefully it won't happen again.

But as for the classic "user switching" glitch where Prevx repeatedly fails to load, that issue is definitely resolved. :)

Just because I'm curious: What is the technical reason that some users needed that .209 registry entry to be modified when others didn't experience the problem? What was the variable, so to speak?

The registry entry is now irrelevant (I believe the other users would have removed it now, but the product doesn't require it). We had some conflicting reports when initially diagnosing the problem but it is now properly fixed and requires no additional registry entries :)

Could any say whether or not the Facebook version is already out? It still hasn't updated by itself, like previously it hasn't.
I already downloaded it a few times already, and not willing to waste any more monthly traffic, which is scarce.

    Thank you

No, the Facebook version is currently 3.0.5.206 and will remain there for some time still likely until the next release round.

    Hello Previx Help:
I've been watching how 3.0.209 has been working for several days now. What it's doing is: If I don't log off and switch user it works like it should, P-3 loads ok in the next user after log in. If I log out and then switch user or try to log in on the other user P-3 doesn't load and says protection is disabled. If I click to enable protection, I then get the admin log in message from the UAC and after typing in my password and clicking yes P-3 loads and then I get the splash screen and icon in the task bar. I know your going to say: We need a remote session. ...Jeff

I just tested this and it did work fine for me here. As a bit of a stray guess, could you let me know the version number of the file c:\windows\system32\drivers\pxrts.sys ? We had an issue upgrading this file in one of the previous releases which could indeed cause it to still have user process switching issues.

    Thanks! :)
