    Hello,
for a long time the on board ethernet port didnt work.
    its nforce 3
I couldnt even ping the router it was directly connected to.
so today i thought i would go to add/remove programs and uninstall just the ethernet drivers.
    it worked fine and rebooted.
then of course windows detected it on the reboot.
so i went to the nvidia site and downloaded the lastest nforce3 drivers.
i extracted it to the desktop and told windows where the driver was.
now the on board lan port works fine.
so now ive got my pci lan card i brought and the on board lan working.
this isnt the end of the story thou.
since i dont need the nvidia on board lan i tryed to disable it.
but it bsod's everytime i try to disable it.
other that just to hide the "a network cable is unplugged icon"
what else can i do to disable the device without it bsod.
this windows install is a real mess now.
once i get my pc i might just make this pc for my parents aka just a few games, internet and email.

You can disable the device in the BIOS.
