me thinks a lot of these so call analysts are leaving the gov for fear of being caught up in all this crap. not sure if they are going willingly or being forced to.

"Snowden suspected of covering electronic tracks, making it hard for NSA to know what he stole"

Maybe that was part of his training?

    That would truly be ironic.

NSA paid millions to cover Prism compliance costs for tech companies

    • Top-secret files show first evidence of financial relationship
    • Prism companies include Google and Yahoo, says NSA
    • Costs were incurred after 2011 Fisa court ruling

The National Security Agency paid millions of dollars to cover the costs of major internet companies involved in the Prism surveillance program after a court ruled that some of the agency's activities were unconstitutional, according to top-secret material passed to the Guardian.

How can those companies still continue to deny their involvement/cooperation with the NSA?

I'd be shocked if they didn't bug the UN, plus all embassies, trade offices, subsidiaries of foreign corporations, etc. That's their job, after all. Every nation does that, to the best of its ability.

What's dangerous is nations spying on their own citizens.

Well I believe that for a US-foreign country is quite tough to spy US citizens. On the other hand, here in EU we are spied by our own country and....the NSA. :D

Regarding the NSA access to the UN internal video conferencing system and the 'Der Spiegel' NSA quote; "The data traffic gives us internal video teleconferences of the United Nations (yay!)", the attitude is similar to this recent The Joy of Tech episode link.
And regarding the reach, data is collected not just from foreign institutions (being par for the course indeed) but foreign citizens also. Such a mass-scale indiscriminate data-collection frenzy is not just a domestic issue imo.

Interesting. When I try to connect directly to thestringer.com.au I get redirected to brandicoot. With Tor I get the actual site. An interesting read.
