New tactics do little for England's potential

    WALES 0-1 ENGLAND

ENGLAND shuffled closer to next year's World Cup finals with a win over Wales on Saturday without doing anything to advance their claim as potential winners of the trophy.

Aaah, the next best thing to the WC Finals is the qualifiers! What big teams will miss out? Who will barely qualify but advance mightily round after round? Who will come in roaring like a Lion and leave like a Lamb? Who will emerge a hero and who will be labeled a goat?

And last but not least....who will present the trophy to Brasil?

USA 2 Mexico 0 Whodda thunk it!!

    Play on, big ed

    OMG Slammer,

I just had a frightening thought. If the 'GODS' decide to let Holland win the cup I'm gonna have to listen to your babble for the next 4 years. Now I'm really afraid!!!

    Play on, ed

Well, let me reassure you....'we' won't win the cup, for the simple reason that the Dutch can't handle foul play from the opponent... it's some kind of a 'genetic' handicap all Dutchies seem to posess: if any unjustice comes upon us, we stop all activity we were involved in, and start to ..... babble ;) , nag, discuss, argue etc. resulting in unnecessary yellow/red cards, and....losing the game we could easily have won..... :(
We can't handle the foul tactics of (most) mediteranean or Latin American teams...
In stead of using the same tactics - playing on the edge, hard tackling, forget about fair play- our players start to shout for 'justice', forgetting to score goals...
    Two exceptions in the past:
    1) Semi-final worldcup 1974: Netherlands vs Brasil 2-0
One of the dirtiest games ever played by l'Orange, but it led them to the final.
    2) Semi-final Euro-cup 1988: Netherlands vs Germany 2-1
Not distracted by historic rivalry; an unfairly given penalty against them, the Dutch managed to come back and take this most hailed victory ever.

But one way or the other...babble I will. Sorry, pal :D

slammer, where do you get this table from? it makes no sense what-so-ever. England are the best second best (size=1]CHELSEA are the best team in the world[/size]) team in the world and will breeze the WC final.

Good ol' Dennis Bergkamp came to Arsenal's rescue with a winning goal deep in added time.

    Well slammer,

All babbling aside.....I'm sure you know by now that Mr. Bergkamp is one of my very few all time favorites! I am never surprised when he stuffs in a game winner.

As to Ice's lament about the rankings I must concurr. The US was 6th...beat Mexico (5th)....and ended up 7th....Huh!! Then I look down the list to see all the perrenial powerhouses.

As for England, if they qualify, they will be fortunate to make it past the first round!

Do you really think that the Betting Houses use these charts to set their odds? If so, maybe I could win some serious $$$. Then again, as we all know, the games must still be played on the pitch, not on paper!!

    Isn't this fun??

    Ok....enough of this horse dip!

Last WC Brazil barely squeeked into the Tourn.

The big guns France, Portugal, Senegal, and Argentina crashed!

Spain, England, and Italy folded later!

Turkey, Belgium, Korea and a host of other so called Minnows were awesome!

What have we learned from this?? Absolutely nothing!!!

yeah, lets forget about the the World Cup. here's the Barclay's Premiership Table. when Chealsea beat Liverpool, in a few hours, they will be even farther ahead. BTW, the Russian Government made Roman Abramovich sell his shares in Sibneft for only 7 Billion pounds ($13.1 billion) he now has £16bn ( 28.2128 billion U.S. dollars) it's said he will use some of the money the strengthen Chelsea :D

i get very confused when people talk about buying a championship:

firstly, it's not possible to win without millions

secondly, everyone knows you can have all the money in the world, like Chelsea, and not win anything.

money doesn't make you win, it's about skill - mental and physical, and alot of determination and maybe alittle luck, but luck doesn't really come into it.

still it's fun to wind people up about money $-)
