    OH......MY......GOD!!!!!

The Liverpudlians did it! After the agony comes the ecstacy. What a match! Just reaffirms the fact that you cannot determine a game on paper; it must be played on the field.

This was a perfect example of the "Beautiful Game". The English Premiership had a very interesting year.

As I was quite dehydrated at the end of the match copius amts. of liquids were necessary to revive me.

It was such an amazing match.
After 45 minutes we thought "game over".....
And then the first 15 minutes in the second half !!!
    And then Dudek :D :D :D

    Congrats Liverpool !!!!!

I don't know what the qualification rules are for the Champions League but I don't believe they should be changed just to accomodate an abnormal situation. I was happy to see Liverpool pull it off but they had a so so League standing. If they get in next year I assume that some other deserving team will not qualify. Not right!......my opinion.

i don't know what will happen, but the UK commentators were saying that they had to be in it because of sponsorship and money o_O

i agree with you both, big ed and FanJ - what a game. it was so good, almost perfect.

ROFL :D ;) Yeah... see what you mean, Ed... subtlity is a virtue I haven't quite mastered yet, when being overwhelmed by sheer enthousiasm. .... but believe me folks, I don't mean harm; I'm just a peaceful fanatic at times :D

Is it December 31st yet already, huh?

    Hey slam,

It's kinda scary that you most always root for the underdog, as I do, (except when L'orange is playing of course) and it seems that since Euro '04 that the "Minnows" have been kicking butt.

Can't wait for '06 when I can root for Lower Slobovia!

Tick tock..... tick tock...... tick tock.....etc! 148 days gone; 216 left! I can see the sweat on your brow!

Err...guess that somebody has to be me then... :)

    Dear Bob,
I happen to agree with you on this (to me it's Football as well) but I like to refer to the start of this thread. (see post #2 for more explanation)

In order to avoid possible mix up by and for our (mostly) North American audience here at Wilders, I decided to use the old-fashioned name "soccer" as sort of a compromise.

And after all: What's in a name? It's all about THE GAME

Hope you can live with it. O.w. just imagine to read Football then (like I do) :D

    Regards,
    slammer

UEFA leaves 'door open' for Liverpool FC

UEFA president Lennart Johansson is in favor of granting winners Liverpool a spot in next seasons' Champions League tournament, despite ranking only 5th in this years' English league. Winners of the cup are no longer automatically permitted in next years tournament...

(spicey detail: city-rivals Everton -who ranked 4th !- could possibly be challenged by this suggestion...)

I'm not surprised that the "Suits" caved and let them in.

Having said that, after watching the semi and the final again on video, if Liverpool can even approach the level of play that they showed, it should be great to watch. Garrard never showed me much in the past and I always thought he was highly overrated. Boy, did I change my mind pretty quick. His performance against Milan was astounding!

    Yea slammer,

Is that as in "close, but no cigar" or "so close I can smell the roses".

The US just beat Panama (Soccer World Power) 3-0. I think they are playing the Galapogos Isl. next. I believe their team is composed of 3 retired Sea Capts, 4 Mermaids, 3 Giant Turtles, and Don Ho in goal. It sould be one he.. of a match.

I would really love the see Holland and the US meet in '06. I would be relaxed and enjoying a brew while my fellow soccer nut would need to have a team of EMTs' standing by in case of disaster.

    Play on, big ed

    PS....tick...tock..tick....

You may be surprised (or not :D ) with the bold predictions I may come up with.....
