...:'(snif..snif...:'( rehi all.... I'm fine now again....:) can live with our loss... I agree with most of you here: Portugal was just better. Sharper, more determined to win. Plus: I think the Dutch played really bad...no real confidence.Exception was Edwin van der Sar: Our goalkeeper played a super-tournament!
Hey, we had our share of luck these weeks; we only had a clear win over Latvia, and still reached the semis... hahaha we already had been nicknamed the "new Germans"...well, we aren't: for we didn't WIN the cup with dreadful play;):D
So, in the end we got the best result we could achieve... pity it is, though. With a little more self-confidence and bravoury we could have gone all the way with this potential.
    Proud enough, anyway!*puppy*

Thank you guys, for keeping this thread alive while i was gone- was fun reading all the posts :). Nevertheless I had a great week on one of our beautiful little isles up North (Terschelling). At least I have a nice tan now:cool:
I celebrated our 1/4 final in the pub: aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrggggh what a thriller that was; very bad for slammers' health... lots of beers...anticipation...adrenaline...yikes!-penalties! ... I closed my eyes, and was only informed by the crowds' response...only saw the winning penalty from Arjan Robben! Bad play - Great effort - Finally we have overcome our trauma... but already I knew we wouldn't have much chance against the homecountry when playing like this.... so I decided not to watch the semifinal in the pub.... good decision this proved to be, alas....
Congratulations on the Portugueze; they did a great job by eliminating Robben, and getting their stars in shape at the right time.

And then about the other upset: a real Greek Drama.....
have to admit I was even more dissapointed to get the news the Czechs lost their semi too.... what the *** did happen thereo_Oo_O I didn't see the game! How could the Czechs let the Greeks (defending wall...yuk) get away with the win? Amazing and a real bummer....
Not that I don't empathize with them but I just don't like their (GERMAN) type of play. Fantastic acievement it is, I must admit, for a team that had never won a single game before on major tournaments - to reach the final...

And now, my secret favourite Czechs are out as well....snif..snif... :'( what a shame...I'm really sad... they played the best soccer in the whole tournament - they deserved the cup!
They must have gotten scared yesterday, or what? I just can't grasp it? Fill me in please.

The Final... Portugal vs. Greece... gee, wasn't that the opening game as well, 3 weeks ago? Hahaha, so why the heck did we need to have all those 30 games of drama and time-wasting anticipation in between? :D

I really don't know whom to root for now...
I don't like homecountries to win... I dislike the Greek system...
hm... I might just decide to get the result out of the newspaper, and skip watching the final.

    What an anti-climax this is...

    cheers all

    slammer;)

Thank you.Greece doesn't play nice to see football, but it is efficien. On the other hand,it is the only way to play for a team without great starts. The entire greek team worths in the football market less than one Zidane's leg.LOL!

Hi, When Euro '04 started I did not have a particular favorite. As the Tournament progressed and all the "Big Names" fell by the wayside it became apparrent that the final was going to be something special. I fully expect to see a great match and for whoever wins it will be huge. ***Play On***

Why should anything change now, all the favourites have lost so Greece will take the championship. :p

Good Luck to both teams. :)

Hi all, Well I have the car all gassed up and packed a Linguica sandwich w/a hunk of Baklava for dessert to eat on my way to my English Pub so I can watch the match. I hope it is a memorable one!

    I am not a gambler or a better...but I now wish I had been...
I BET there are some fortuneseekers who will have a field day if the Greeks will pull this of.
I believe at the beginning of the tournament the greeks were some 80/1 to win the cup(with the bookies)...before this final started it still was...10/1.
    wow, nice profit

A nutcase out of the crowds runs on the pitch on the 85th minute... seemingly supporter of FC Barcelona; after throwing a shawl into the face of Figo he throws himself into one of the goals and gets captured by security-officers...shame on the good name of the sport that these things still happen...
