    Hey, time is getting short. I don't think that Moriente's goal will count if he dosen't get subbed into the game.

    Ha! I spoke too soon. Morientes went in @ 81 mins. I can't understand it. I told the coach that I wanted him in @ 80 min. He hasn't heard the last from me.

    Little late, but anyhow: In my younger days, I used to play card games once a week in a local pub. Advocaat at that moment played for te local club: VVV (small club, ending 5th or so in the highest Dutch Legue at that time). He popped up in the pub frequently to play cards. Fairly all of the times, he left very angry - after loosing one more game because of his attitude: never take anything coming close to a risk. That's over 30 years ago. Seems he never ever learned the lesson...

    regards.

    Fantastic anecdote, Paul!
    But to say I'm surprised....no.:(;)
    It just had to be in the genes...........:(:'(:mad:

    p.s. and about the snipping in my aftermatch analysis; yeah, I can see why. It was on the edge politically and on the ethics (especially considering our mostly North American audience...) It was written in the emotion & excitement of the event: I'll try to pay more attention.Internet isn't liberal Holland, slammer...!:) regards, slam

    Hey People,
    Just read a piece in the news about a guy named Johan de Last who, with a number of other Dutch supporters in Portugal, got together to buy a plane ticket out of the country for Dick Advocaat. The destination on the ticket was not mentioned but Johan said that Advocaat needn't return to the Netherlands. Sounds to me like the fans are not happy campers. Ouch!

    Ah the "Beautiful Game"

    There is a big discussion going on @ the SoccerAge Forum. The issue being discussed is whether Advocaat or Trappitoni is the biggest Idiot.

    I really think that it's a toss up. At least the Refs have been blamed for only half the losses so far. I can hardly wait to see what tomorrow will bring.

    {....Sigh....}

    Just coming back from work -where surely only one topic was discussed, in every cantina, on every workfloor, every office....etc.

    Now, I switch on my PC and......... there we go again..! sigh

    But, in a strange way, every time the discussion comes to my notice again, I feel a weird combination of anger + hilarity (is that the english word?)

    It was such an u n b e l i e v a b l e dumb act that to me it's no question at all.

    "And the winner is......: D I C K Advocaat"

    grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:mad:
    wohahahahahaha:D

    {...sigh...}

    P.s. this attachment a.o. is flying all over the mailboxes in Holland...'translation':

    Hi slammer

    In the South of the Netherlands - they are asking:

    ’Is Dick Advocaat wel een Nederlander?’

    ))

    EURO 2004
    3rd matches of Round 1, Group B

    Today's Slammers Forecasts:

    Switzerland vs. France 0-2

    Hmm... better not forecast my wishes and hopes here: The bl**dy French are already so &^~*%#@ lucky... they probably will be winning again anyway....:(.

    Hi All, God I love this game. I think that the dialogue that goes on before and after the actual match is the best part. If Dick is sent to Brussels is that like in sprouts. Like say in the middle of a sprout field w/4 tractors w/their plows down chasing him about.

    My son just phoned to tell me that he is in The Man of Kent pub in upstate NY waiting for the Eng match to start. I'm devastated that he didn't call a couple of hrs. sooner so I could see it too. France should win their match but England has a chance only if Heskey gets in by the 75th Min.

    RAI from Italy is putting in 5 extra cameras @ the Swe/Den match to insure that neither one of them cheats to put Italy out of the tourn. They asked to put in 7 but there wasn't any room. I am embarrassed to admit that I am of Italian decent.

    Let the games begin! Again!

    Hey guys,

    I agree all is said about DICK (hmmm...nice name) He will not come by the way on divers conferences today and tomorrow. Maybe on the Belgium tv?
    But dont forget that...flirting... pass of Cocu, there is where the disaster starts.
    However I am a little expecting for the next wednesdaynight.
    For tonight, no figures here but I trust England and France will make it.
    Have lots of fun guys/galls.

    How could we possibly do without it?
    It's natures defense for beating eachothers brains in (that is, if there weren't some guy born named ...DA :D)

    Keeps one off the streets hahaha

    enjoy the games
