In WC '02 Italy, France, and Argentina were the experts picks. Huh! The most exciting games, for me, were played by Turkey, So Corea and Senegal. Brasil barely qualified for the Tourn. I also enjoyed watching Ireland and Mexico. I guess one must have rankings but rankings do not allow for rivalries or passion. If Germany were ranked 1st and Holland 50th I doubt if anyone here would concede the match.

All Holland needs is a couple of Johans, a Ruud,(the other one) a Marco, and a Frank.

It ain't over til the Fat Lady sings !

    Exactly! :)
Think positive! And why not? Fate of Holland depends basicly on the AJAX Amsterdam players; to be more precize....... Tomas GALASEK and Zdenek GRYGERA!!! :D (Defenders from the Czech Republic!)
When they do their job right: Germany can shake it, against them.
All we have to do is draw -at least- against Latvia....:D

Come on you Czechs !! ;)

For anyone interested (especially our Canadian followers) or the Dutch masochists among us :p here's a nice link to BBC SPORT; where one can see VIRTUAL REPLAY of the key-moments of the Holland - Czhech Rep. game!

    aaaarrrggggghhhhh!!! :eek::D

    Regards,

There you go- the first impression of 'the state of the Kingdom', the day after the night before: Obviously there is anger, but even more astonishment about what already only needs to be reffered to as "the Substitution"
This scoffing attachment below I received half an hour ago - I think it says it all. Most of you know where it comes from; the worldfamous tv show "Who-Wants-To-Be-A-Millionair". In this case: How NOT to become one....
    Thank you, Dick! :rolleyes::mad:

    Translated:
"Your leftwinger is playing the game of his lifetime and is constantly dangerous. Mainly thanks to him your team is leading 2-1. What's your move?"

    A. You replace him for a slow defender
    B. You keep him on the pitch and your team wins 4-1.
    C. You replace him for Marc Overmars (also a leftwing striker-sjva)
    D. You replace him as soon as HE is signalling he's tired.

(For the ones who overlook...... actually 3 possible good answers to win!)

    ..... OMG
    what a buffoon!

    :D:D:D

    cheers fellow patriots
    slammer

    p.s. for you english-speaking: Advocaats' first name honestly is: D I C K
No offense meant (but how suiting now..:D)

I won't pretend to understand the system but i have one question. ;)

Why does Dick Advocaat insist on going back to the 4-4-2 when it is not necessary. o_O

Is this the way he thinks it should always be done? :doubt:

    Actually 2 questions... :p

    Sigh...
why oh why oh why oh why? That's a good one!

You ask the wrong person, Snowbound.
(Actually I don't see you can find any fellow Dutch countryman who will have the answer for that one for last night..)

But okay, let's keep it simple - and now I will put myself on "dangerous ground" with my fellow Dutchies hehehe;)

It is because he is not from the AJAX-school !
Total Football = attack + wingplayers
Be cocky - force your will upon the opponent!
    All!
(or nothing.. but then you fought for it)

    (and thus D.A. is 'coward'...)

    regards,
    slam;)

Thank u Slammer for clearing that up for me. ;) :D

Sounds like Ajax is the only way. :p ;) :D

D.A. will need answers for his questionable tactics. Especially if the Dutchies don't go through.

I will not pretend that it IS the only way.
But to me it seems like it - pure for entertainment reasons alone I would plead for it :D:cool:

So.. and now I think it is wise for me to put an end on this (HOL-CSE) topic
-enough narrow-minded shouting, crying & cursing done.
    Tough but true: Yesterdays news...

    Let's take some breath, put some beers in the fridge, and let's move on;

Another clash about to start in little than 1.5 hours:

Let's all enjoy PORTUGAL vs SPAIN !!!

Everything stand by in the fridge. Will be a great match between the two neighbours. No idea where it will end. I think it will be 1-2 and a lot of yellow cards.
    Have fun........:D

    EURO 2004
Todays features: 3rd and last group matches GROUP A

    Half Time:

    Portugal vs. Spain 0-0

Portugal raging on the frontline ; Spain looking for the counterattack; in no hurry at all - with this as the final result they will be qualified. Great chance (mighty header;just wide) for Cristiano Ronaldo (POR) just before halftime.

    Russia vs. Greece 2-1

Greeks are now with one foot in quarterfinal...
    43rd minute goal by Vryzas.
    Portugal out of it
    If it stays like this....
