An interesting thing pointed out (Originally on SlashDot, full of thinkers ^_^):

    http://www.edbott.com/weblog/archives/000496.html

iDownload has used the ICSA Labs name without authorization to sell their ripoff antivirus software, called Virus Hunter.

They've seemingly ripped Bit Defender's software also.

This means that they (iDownload) themselves could get a Cease and Desist letter from CyberTrust, if not Bit Defender. They could even get sued.

This could turn the tables on iDownload as they have brought all this attention to themselves.

    Real smart. :p

Thanks for that Kye-U. I am away for a week on holiday next week, but have asked my company solicitor (sometimes its good to be the boss), to have a look at them, their "product" and EULA etc and see what he as a non computer techie type person thinks their position might be in reference to my previous post in this thread.
I will let you know what "occurs". :ninja:

PS, there is another company with a similar name in NewYork who should NOT be confused with the London (UK) company in question.

    Just only as a side-note:

Maybe this analogue does not fit completely.
But remember the case PCHelp vs Paris about a review by PCHelp of LockDown from Paris.
Lots of others issues were involved.
But remember: PCHelp won the case in the courtroom.

Very Nice Documentation Kye-U. Well done. :)

I certainly appreciate all your efforts, as I'm sure as do all.

~Curiously Wondering~ If the legal counsel for iSearch/iDownload will advise their client to continue with this action in light of your public findings/evidence, and the outcry from the security/privacy community general. It's getting lots of media, contrary to the wishes iSearch/iDownload I'm sure ... nothing like creating your own slew of bad press, which certainly won't be erased from memory or ever forgotten.

Don't you love it, when those so deserving of shooting themselves in the foot, do so indirectly as a result of their actions, when the light is cast into the shadows to reveal the truth. :)

Not really. Goliath made a mistake and was BIG enough to admit it. :)

    Thanks Kye-U.

Nice job cataloguing all that ... I seemed to have missed a few of those articles (after quickly glancing at the titles). ;) I'll have to take a moment to read them and get back up to speed.

    Thanks

ok some spyware/adware writers are treatening to sue castlecops (and others) cause they bookmarked their spyware/malware/adware as malicious...

so if castlecops/others will not remove it, they will sue them.

that is basicly what is going on. hope you can follow

are you a spyware writer/coder? if not then they will not sue you. maybe they will, I don't know...it all depends on what you have been doing wrong lately...;)

Suzi (of Spyware Warrior) and the rest at DSLReports have been posting all of these links, and I'd like to thank them for it ^_^

I may come around to add "Ad-Aware" section to my Mini-Site. (The whole WhenU thing)

On DSLReports, Suzi has said that that link will be up for only a day or two.

I have it already saved on my computer (for back-up reasons), but I will not upload it (against Sunbelt's wishes, possibly).

I'll add it, and remove it if Sunbelt removes it ;)

    Thanks!
