    Hi,

We have a few computers/laptops and our network consists of Netware 6.5 SP7 and Zenworks 4.01 ir7.

In the past we made an image using Acronis True Image Workstation 9.1.3718and Acronis True Image Workstation Universal Restore 9.1.3718. On this image we had Acronis True Image Workstation 9.1.3718 local version and Acronis True Image Workstation Universal Restore 9.3718 installed. We also made a Rescue Media Boot CD with Acronis True Image Workstation 9.1.3718 local version (Safe and Full) and Acronis True Image Workstation Universal Restore 9.1.3718 (Safe and Full).

The image we made from the above mentioned contained the Novell Client 4.91 SP3 and Zenworks Desktop Agents 4.01 ir7. Also, all other software that was needed such as virus scanner etc... was on the image as well.

We saved the image (tib file) onto a removable media (external usb drive).

When in the past if we had to image a computer this is what we did. We put in the Rescue Media Boot CD with Acronis True Image Workstation 9.1.3718 local version (Safe and Full) and Acronis True Image Workstation Universal Restore 9.1.3718 (Safe and Full) and booted up the computer and chose with Universal Restore (Full version with USB support).

We followed all the steps outlined in the user guide, such as enabling Universal Restore, adding drivers etc... and the restore worked out perfect.

However, as time went on we realized that with newer laptops using the AHCI compliant hard drives with Acronis True Image Workstation 9.1.3718 just wasn't working so well anymore because of hard drive detection.

We decided to upgrade to Acronis True Image Echo Workstation 9.5.8115 and Acronis True Image Workstation Universal Restore 9.5.8115.

We uninstalled the older version of Acronis True Image Workstation 9.1.3718 local version and Acronis True Image Workstation Universal Restore 9.1.3718 and installed the with Acronis True Image Echo Workstation 9.5.8115 local version and Acronis True Image Echo Workstation Universal Restore 9.5.8115.

We also made a Rescue Media Boot CD with Acronis True Image Echo Workstation 9.5.8115 local version (Safe and Full) and Acronis True Image Echo Workstation Universal Restore 9.5.8115 (Safe and Full).

We still have the old image (tib file) that was created a while back, but with Acronis True Image Echo Workstation 9.5.8115 and Acronis True Image Workstation Universal Restore 9.5.8115 installed.

When we have to restore a computer with different hardware now using the Acronis True Image Echo Workstation 9.5.8115 and Acronis True Image Echo Workstation Universal Restore 9.5.8115 installed and using the Rescue Media Boot CD with Acronis True Image Echo Workstation 9.5.8115 local version (Safe and Full) and Acronis True Image Echo Workstation Universal Restore 9.5.8115 (Safe and Full) we run into some issues. We never had these issues when using Acronis True Image Workstation 9.1.3718 and Acronis True Image Workstation Universal Restore 9.1.3718.

Issues we have with Acronis True Image Echo Workstation 9.5.8115 and Acronis True Image Workstation Universal Restore 9.5.8115:

Issue 1: when restoring an image to different hardware it restores successfully, but when we restart the computer a bunch of text comes up saying things such as "no virtual mounts found" something like that as well as other stuff. Sometimes the computer will restart by itslef and sometimes we have to force a restart when this text shows up. We never had this issue using Acronis True Image Workstation 9.1.3718 and Acronis True Image Workstation Universal Restore 9.1.3718. When we restarted from restoring an image to a computer with different hardware, no text showed up as mentioned up above and we would never have to force a restart.

Question 1: Why with Acronis True Image Echo Workstation 9.5.8115 and Acronis True Image Echo Workstation Universal Restore 9.5.8115 when a restore to a computer with different hardware from the Rescue Media Boot CD is done and restarted that a bunch of text appears and sometimes a forced restart is reuired where when we used Acronis True Image Workstation 9.1.3718 and Acronis True Image Workstation Universal Restore 9.1.3718 we never had this situation (no text on restart after restoring and no forced restart)?

Issue 2: As mentioned we are running Novell Client 4.91 SP3 on our image (tib file). When we imaged (from external hard drive) in the past using Acronis True Image Workstation 9.1.3718 and Acronis True Image Workstation Universal Restore 9.1.3718 from the Rescue Media Boot CD we never had problems. Logging in was fine, internet worked great etc... However, now using Acronis True Image Echo Workstation 9.5.8115 and Acronis True Image Echo Workstation Universal Restore 9.5.8115 with the Rescue Medi Boot CD everything at first appears normal when restoring to a computer with different hardware, but when you try logging into Novell it eventually gives an error stating "a necessary network service is not running". When we go in through Workstation Only which bypasses the network eveyrthing works fine such as internet, e-mail etc... it's just we can't log into Novell. When you go into the Event Viewer in Windows XP you can see a lot of errors related to Novell in it. A solution I found was to uninstall the Novell Client and then re-install it. Then I was able to log in.

Question 2: Is there a problem with the Novell Client (we are using Novell Client 4.91 SP3) and Acronis True Image Echo Workstation 9.5.8115 and Acronis True Image Echo Workstation Universal Restore 9.5.8115 because we never had the above mentioned issue when using Acronis True Image Workstation 9.1.3718 and Acronis True Image Workstation Universal Restore 9.1.3718? If there is what is the solution?

    Thanks!

We made a master image using Acronis True Image Workstation 9.1.3718 with Universal Restore 9.1.3718.

We have a few computers with different hardware and from time to time we re-imae them using the Rescue Media Boot CD we made. On the Rescue Media Boot CD we made it contains Acronis True Image Workstation 9.1.3718 (Safe and Full) and Acronis True Image Workstation with Universal Restore (Safe and Full).

Everytime, in the past when we had to resotre a computer with different hardware using the Master Image (tib file) we made we used the Resuce Media Boot CD I mentioned above and the restore process completed successfully! The only thing we had to do was install missing drivers such as Network driver, Video driver etc... After installing the network driver we were able to login to Novell, Internet worked etc.... The Master Image already had Novell Client 4.91 SP3 configured, as well as a static IP address and DNS assigned as well. We had no problems with the Novell Client 4.91SP3 and Acronis True Image 9.1.3718 Rescue Media Boot CD.

However, we decided to go to the latest Acronis True Image Echo Workstation 9.5.8115 with Acronis True Image Echo Workstation Universal Restore 9.5.8115. The reason we decided to upgrade because some of the newer computers most noticably laptops that our Acronis True Image 9.1.3718 Rescue Media Boot CD wasn't recognizing the newer hard drives. The Acronis True Image Echo Workstation 9.5.8115 Rescue Media Boot CD does recognize these new hard drives.

Now that we are using the Acronis True Image Echo Workstation 9.5.8115 with Acronis True Image Echo Workstation Universal Restore 9.5.8115 Rescue Media Boot CD we are having issues.

When I restore a desktop computer or laptop with different hardware with our Master Image using the Acronis True Image Echo Workstation 9.5.8115 with Acronis True Image Echo Workstation Universal Restore 9.5.8115 Rescue Media Boot CD everything appears to have restored successfully.

After installing all the necessary drivers, we try and log into Novell and eventually it gives an error "Error A required network service has not started. Please check your error log for details"

When we go through Workstation Only we verify that the network driver is fine and we are able to browse the internet with no problems, gather e-mail etc... The only issue is we can't log into Novell. When we go into the Event Viewer we notice a bunch of errors linked to the Novell Client.

If we unistall the Novell client and then re-install the Novell Client then we can log into Novell.

Is there a problem with the Novell Client (we are using Novell Client 4.91 SP3 and we even tried Novell Client 4.91 SP4) and the Acronis True Image Echo Workstation 9.5.8115 with Acronis True Image Echo Workstation Universal Restore 9.5.8115 Rescue Media Boot CDo_O??

As mentioned earlier we never had no problems with Novell Client 4.91 SP3 and the Acronis True Image 9.1.3718 Rescue Media Boot CD. There were no errors in the Event View in relation to the Novell Client when we used the Acronis True Image 9.1.3718 Rescue Media Boot CD, but there were quite a few erros in the Event Viewer when we used the Acronis True Image Echo Workstation Universal Restore 9.5.8115 Rescue Media Boot CD.

    Thanks!

Anyone have a Master Image with Novell Client and having problems

    Hi,

I know I already posted the below but I haven't got any responses at all. I'm sure someone on this forum is in a Novell enironment and uses the Novell Client.

We just want to clarify why with the Acronis True Image Echo Workstation 9.5.8115 with Acronis True Image Echo Workstation Universal Restore 9.5.8115 Rescue Media Boot CD we are having issues with the Novell Client when we restore an image to another computer. We never had these issues with the Acronis True Image Workstation 9.1.3718 with Acronis True Image Workstation Universal Restore 9.1.3718 Rescue Media Boot CD.

I know the below is a little detailed, but some times it's more important to have more detail than not enough!

    Thanks!

    Hello countryboy,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Remote Workstation Disk Backup Software.

We are sorry for delayed response.

It appears in this case Acronis Universal Restore isn't able to properly adjust network settings for some reason. To investigate that issue we would require some information to be collected using a special variant of Acronis Universal Restore. So, please submit a request for technical support. Attach all information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will do our best to investigate the problem and provide you with a solution.

    Thank you.
