i've heard lots of people say notepad++ is really good. i didn't realise you could get vim for windows, or i'd forgotten about it. i got gvim the other day which is really nice, maybe you can get that for for windows too??

i think this is the download for gvim, i'm not recommending it though, i haven't used it on windows and it's complicated to use if it's like the linux version. lol

EditPad Lite? a 2.4MB download for a simplex text editor! They call that "lite?"

You want lite? I'll show you Lite...

Metapad -- 46KB download; 93.5KB fully functional. NO INSTALL REQUIRED!

Now THAT's "Lite!" I've been using it for years. Does everything you need except rich text.

If you want BOTH rich text & plain text in an editing program that is truly industrial strength given its incredibly small size (1.54MB including a spelling dictionary!), then heeeeer's Johnny....

WordTabs -- Skip Bremer's masterpiece &, YES, it runs grrreat on WinXP as well as 9X, 2K, etc. Absolutely the best text editing joy you can have while still wearing clothes.

If you like to use vim then Cream is a modern configuration of the Vim text editor. IMO easy to use and learn.
