I received a registered letter from my landlord, who is trying to sell her building, in which I hire an apartment.
I have to leave my apartment before 2006.02.01.
Meanwhile I have to show my apartment to potential buyers on wednesday and saturday during 90 minutes.
The trouble is, my landlord couldn't sell her building on the official day of sale (2005.12.19), because none of potential buyers were interested.
So I can't even ask the new landlord for a possible new lease, because there is no new landlord.
The same happened to me two years back for the same reason, also during the Christmas/New Year period. :doubt:

My actual hire contract ends on 2006.01.31.
So my landlord has the right not to renew my contract, but I was hoping for a new contract with the new landlord.
I need to talk with her very soon, but it's Christmas/NewYear, bad period for having a meeting LOL.
Normally, I have to leave on 2006.01.31, but I'm going to wait until there is a new owner (when I don't know) and if the new owner tells me to leave, then I have to leave for sure.
But I'm not going to leave my apartment after 2006.01.31, when there is no new owner.
Until then I will pay my hire month by month without a contract.
I guess my actual landlord will not like this, but that's not my problem.
My landlord has a bigger problem than me. She has to sell her building FIRST.

I received on 2006.01.10 (today) another letter from my she-landlord and there is no way out.
I have to leave my apartment on 2006.01.31. She doesn't even want to wait for a new owner.
She wants her house completely empty and I'm the last one, the two other apartments are empty already.
I have 20 days to find another apartment, to pack and settle the move, including gas, electricity, TV, internet, ...
I lived there only 2 years. I hope I have better luck with my new apartment. :)

Sometimes these things happen for the best. Lets hope that this is one of those time and that your position will improve after the move and that everything will be better in the end. Don't get discouraged it will get better even though it doesn't seem like it sometimes. Chin up and move forward.

    Nat and bigC,
Thanks alot for the support. I need it.
At least, I know now what I have to do, no insecurity anymore.
Nevertheless it's very annoying. I'm a man of rusted habits and I don't like any change in my daily life, that keeps me away or distracts me from my work, hobbies and home computer.
If my wife wasn't there, I would probably wear the very same clothes, another color for each day of the week, because I don't like to spend any thoughts on what I have to wear every day. :D
I live more in my head, than in real life.

I will be very happy, when this nasty period comes to an end. Pffft.

    Don't Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low, and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,

And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You might succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far.

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worse, that you must not quit.

Today 2006.01.23, I finally found a new apartment in Antwerp, that meets most of my wishes.
I still don't have a contract, which will be signed on friday 2006.01.27 at 13h00, but I have a PROMISE and paid already 325 euro. So it's almost certain, I will have my new apartment.

It's not exactly the same of course, but I can live with it LOL.
There is only ONE problem : it has NO kitchen.
The space where the kitchen is supposed to be is completely EMPTY from top to bottom.
BUT the broker promised a NEW installed kitchen within one or two weeks.
I didn't see or spoke my new landlord yet, so the gender of the landlord is still unknown.

After a civilized verbal fight with my actual she-landlord, we came to an agreement, that I can move somewhere in February 2006 and not exactly on 2006.01.31.
She isn't a bad person, but she wants everything according the law and she is FULL OF RULES.
Everything has to be on paper. That woman has no fantasy.
For each nail in the wall, I have to contact her to get her approval.

Even the two new holes in the wall for my internet connection were a problem for her, because those holes weren't mentioned in her papers of the apartment description.
My wife was so upset by her, that she punched two holes with a needle in our hire contract in front of her eyes. "Now we both will remember these holes", said my wife and I had to leave the living after that :D

I'm glad the house hunting is over. I'm too old for this.
The new apartment isn't exactly an improvement : one floor higher and 20 euro more rent, but we will have a new kitchen and that makes my wife happy. Women !!! I will never understand them.
I only want my computer, an internet connection and Wilders, but my wife needs a whole kitchen to make her happy.

My new computer is also there, but I don't have time to play with it.
So I have put my packed computer in another box. The funny thing was that the packed Antec Sonata II case was a perfect match in my move boxes.
Maybe it's a good sign. Who knows. :D

    Hi EriK ! :)

Soooo...you're meaning to say that you wouldn't mind living without a kitchen,
your wife, like you would surf the net ALLL day long ~ and you guys would never eat !?? :D
Well you see. Us women usually are the ones that make sure our dear hubbies, boyfriends and the like have a full tummy ! ;)

So, what better place to do this in, is a kitchen, right ?

OR! There's always still the grill one could use outside.

Well I'm really happy for you and your wife that you found an apartment.
Someday you'll totally get used to it !

    Good Luck, in everything !

    Dear Natasha,
I don't need a kitchen. A coffee machine and lots of pizza is enough.

Didn't you see Big Ed's desktop in this thread ?
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=111982
That's the way my new computer will look in just one week.

Real Wilder members live like that. Wilderness girls will never understand that.
We Wilder men don't need any kitchen, our desktop is our kitchen, bedroom, badroom, living and lavatory.

Didn't you hear of "computer widows" ? That expression was born in the USA.
Women, who are married to a man, who is only interested in his computer, nothing else.
That is your destiny Natasha. Stowed away in an useless kitchen :D :D :D

    P.S. :
This is the new computer chair of the future.

The Chit & Chat Chair. No "Be Right Back" anymore. :)
