    Hey

Today I purchased Norton Internet Security 2012 from their website. After purchasing I downloaded the NIS downloader onto a USB drive and transferred this onto a new Windows 7 PC. Previously when I have installed Norton, it asks for the licence key or Norton account, however this time it didn't. What amazed and somewhat baffled me was that after running the NIS Downloader and installing Norton, it said I had 366 days remaining. It had somehow automatically inserted the CD key and activated my account. How the hell did it do this?

It has happened to me in the past versions also ( for new or reinstallations ).

if you remove it completely with tool, it would not happen.

However, I dont understand how could it do that in a new system.

Like eplose said, it must have been a unique installation file.

I highly doubt thay they would do processing of making unique download file for each user. :doubt:

but it appears as most obvious answer

Could it be the installer connects to a cloud service and compares the IP, or perhaps more likely, some other unique hardware identification, to what information about Norton installations is stored in the cloud?
