ha ha :argh: forgot they do that

    Softpedia say next to Licence/Price "Ad-Supported / USD 59.99..."
Whats the Ad? Is Softpeadia wrong, is it the Ask toolbar or is the trial different to the pay-for product and has other ads with it?

From comments on different threads on Wilders, it's the Ask toolbar during install however i upgraded from NIS09 and it picked up the serial itself and i didn't see any toolbar option.

Yes exact link Softpedia has, however i wasn't sure about direct linking to .exe's

Possibly no harm no foul but our preference is no direct download links. In this case, we'll defer on the side of caution since it's not Symantec and ask that direct links to a site where members can then choose the exe link would be our preference.

Is there no place to download this without giving credit card info?

I find it unacceptable that they require you to include your credit card number before you can download the trial (opt-out trial, that is).

    It is very strange indeed.

However, can you give them a fake CC number and name ?

I'm not sure if that is legal.

I don't think so. You see, downloading the trial is like purchasing from their store, which is really strange. The store will verify your card, and if it is not valid, the transaction may not go through.

If you want to update from NIS 2009 to NIS 2010 use this update link http://updatecenter.norton.com/manually.ftl

This way you don't have to uninstall first and it doesn't ask for your key, etc.
Warning - the new version won't have your old settings, like firewall exclusions, scanning exclusions, etc.
