    Hi,
I noticed for many days (months) that ESET Products doesn't make update the week-end.
If there is an update it's just once for all the Week-end.
ESET Don't work the Week end? :)

There was an update last Saturday which I think is very good, considering the boys at ESET are entitled to time off, they cant be expected to work 7 days a week.

What difference would it make if, for instance, we added one signature for a simple batch file that formats disks? Would it make one feel safer just because there has been an update during the weekend? As it's been stated, ESET monitors the situation even during weekends and releases updates when necessary. During the last weekend 3 updates have been released.

When i see no update in a week-end such as the week-end 06-JUN-2008 -> 08-JUN-2008, i asked my self there is no virus identified by ESET in that Week-end?

You'd better ask yourself if there was a threat that you met but your NOD32 didn't detect during the weekend :shifty:

As it was stated (more than once) , ESET do monitor the situation globally , do work , do create signatures but releases new update if necessary . They thought it was - they did it . They thought it was not , they did not do it . Simple :thumb:

How can ESET do well if each Week end no update...
Other Antivirus Update their Database for more than 2500 New viruses and when we want to see ESET no update or one update for all the week-end witch contain 2 or 3 viruses...
    It's a big problem...

What's the relation between ESET update and your link?

    Hi MrGSM,

Actually if the all the new threats were already heuristically detected then adding signatures for them would not need to be a priority would it?

Canon System Solutions Inc. released an excellent independent analysis a couple of years back highlighting the value of ESET's strong heuristics and signature response time when necessary over their competitors.
It should be noted that in the time since this report was produced ESET's detection and response capabilities have increased at the very least significantly, or exponentially is probably closer to the fact.
study - (The whole document should probably be taken as response to your concern, but especially pages 13-14)

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers :)

    What are you talking about?

    http://www.eset.com/support/updates.php

They only missed 1 day in October which was a Wednesday (5th), I'm not even going to bother looking further back.

I better switch AV programs because the lack of the occasional update on the weekends, since I always get infected on sunday when Eset staff is at church on sundays instead of working on updates.(LOL) better yet stay off line on the weekends.please, How many here been infected often with any AV on weekends or weekday from the lack of a occasional update.

Updates are compiled in ESET's HQ in Slovakia so they always have CET time.

Excuse me but ESET must work hardly to assist users with updates in week-ends because a lot of threats appear in Week-end...
That's why we always find in this forum: ESET NOD32 miss threats...

We continually provide updates, often on weekends too. We monitor the situation 24 hours 7 days a week and we always issue an update, if necessary.

and so do many other products. No AV is 100% effective.

I'm not sure what some people think they are missing out on. It's no good comparing one AV with another, because the other company that is pumping out 7 updates a weekend might be updating for things NOD32 already covers or might be adding protection for viruses that aren't in general circulation.

As has been said before if something comes in that requires an immediate update at the weekend it'll be released. If it for something that'll be blocked by heuristics or is some 10 years old batch program then it'll wait.

Look at last month. There are only 2 days where updates were not released - the 5th and 31st. September it was the 14th and 20th.
