    hi to all!!!

    1, i'm really new to nod32 as well as LNS firewall, do they work well together?

    2, i read about the special settings here for nod32 i.e Black spear etc...
    what if i use the default settings, will i be vulnerable?

    3, can anybody pls explain what AMON,DMON,EMON,IMON means and what are the functions?

    sorry for not knowing that much and thanks for bearing with a noob like me...

    I am not sure because I have never heard about this LNS firewall . Since it is not so known and famous , use more popular one and better one such as ZoneAlarm free or Windows Firewall

    No , but it is recommended for MAXIMUM protection

    AMON -> Access Monitor
    DMON -> Document Monitor
    EMON -> Email Monitor
    IMON -> Internet Monitor

    AMON is the most important it scans everything on access , on create and on execute
    DMON scans Microsoft Office Documents
    EMON scans Microsoft Outlook / Outlook Express messages
    IMON scans all your mail and internet traffic , ports 100,80,8080,3128 and any other you wish(type)

    DMON,EMON and IMON are AMON helpers

    More info in ESET's page:

    :D

    Thank you so much for the reply...

    LNS= LooknStop firewall, i'm also doing the trial for it as well as nod32, heard of any issues between the 2?

    so does that mean i should use special settings? bec i heard that NOB32 was the best, and despite the defaults i can be assured of safety.

    uhmmm... EMON, is it needed if i use web based email, i.e YAHOOMAIL?
    should i disable?

    once again thanks alot for the help

    No , as I said , I have never heard that firewall and I recommend you use the best one - Zone Alarm , free

    Yes , NOD32 is the best . Blackspear's posts tells you how to switch NOD32 for maximum protection but it doesn't mean you are not protected with the default settings , just the Blackspear's are much better ... :)

    I also use web-based mail . But my EMON is on . No problem to be ON , it doesn't hurt nor it makes it slower . NOD32 is much different from Norton :D

    No , problem , you are welcome . I suggest you first visit ESET's site and learn as much as possible for NOD32 ;)

    No, and you can find a Tutorial HERE

    It is not so much as special settings as it is tweaking and having NOD32 quarantine for safety if it cleans or deletes, as well automating NOD32.

    I never disable, as the day you decide to use it will be the day you forget to turn it back on.

    Cheers :D

    I saw the tutorial . This firewall seems good but it is not appropriate for newbies , I think ;)

    Once installed it is pretty much set and forget, like NOD32.

    Cheers :D

    My pleasure, and for the record I have hundreds of customers using ZA Free, every now and then a version update has a major hiccup, but other than that it is a simple and effective piece of software, and my comments ONLY refer to the FREE version, I'm not impressed with the Pro version at all.

    Cheers :D
